Favorite author/book

I just finished a book (The Dispossessed by Ursula K Le Guin), and was wondering if anyone else had favorite authors/books that i might read.

i dont really read that much (im planning to do it more) but the one book i readed around 2-3 years ago for my own enjoyment was No Longer Human (A Shameful Life) by Osamu Dazai

I enjoyed Legend of the Seeker and was bummed when they cancelled the series. I do wish they followed the books a little more closely.
I also was bummed when Terry Goodkind passed. No one seems to know how he died. I wonder if he took his own life.

"From the New World" by Yusuke Kishi. It's a rather tragic story, where you gradually realize just how messed up things are as the story goes on. However, I really like the conclusion that is drawn at the end. The idea that, even in a cruel and twisted world, we can still try to make it a little bit better.

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a personal favorite. maybe it's because it reminds me of my own current situation. :-)

Because it was Kubrick and Nicholson. I hated it as well. The made for tv movie was better imo and it was closer to the book.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky is my favorite author. I suppose the Brothers Karamazov is probably my favorite book by him, but I don't know if it's my favorite book per se and I actually find it very grating to read. There is just so much truth to his characters - their essences are so poignant and perfectly portrayed despite their whole being perhaps surreal and unrealistic. Kafka is also a favorite, few authors resonate on such a level emotionally for me.

It was a revelation at one point but now it's just comfort reading. Pessimistic stuff is all just comfort reading now. Re-affirming to myself over and over that life really is that bad so I don't have to feel that bad about hating every second of it.

It's gonna stop working entirely one day.

this isn't really relevant to the post, but I had to stop by and say I love your pfp. Stalker is one of my favorite movies of all time. Tarkovsky is truly a brilliant filmmaker :)
