Help Failed with helium

I've been a lurker for a while...decided to make an account here and ask for help.

I attempted to ctb with the helium exit bag method but I failed because I just didn't pass out.

I read that you should pass out in seconds, at most 40 seconds. But I felt normal.

"Maybe the bag was not tight enough and the helium escaped."
But I even stuck the tube up my nose and breathed only through my nose for a minute. Nothing.

It's as if the helium had no effect on me. Just like air. But it does change my voice and make ballons float well. What should I do.....

Here is where I bought it from....it says it is pure. I'm also not a dummy and I did my research and followed instructions perfectly so why did it not work?

Now, helium is mixed with oxygen for prevent suicide. Pure helium is not sold. If you want to do the exit bag method, try nitrogen, it has the same effect, but is more expensive.

Dude, if I would know how to easily obtain nitrogen, I wouldn't be here now!

The only thing I know about nitrogen is that is mostly used for industrial purposes. If you search nitrogen, you could obtain some information.

Plastic welding. That's the answer on why you need nitrogen. Motorcycle fairing? Auto pieces? Just a hobby......

It depends, from which country you are. Are you from the European Union (EU)?
If yes, i know some methods. But you aren't 18 of age yet?

I'm in the US, and I went to my local AirGas store, told them I needed a size 40 nitrogen tank. It was 120 dollars. I plunked over the cash, they made me sign a waiver because I was transporting it in a car which is dangerous (if they only knew why I was buying it) and the waiver said to drive with the windows down in case there is a gas leak and buildup.

I grabbed the tank, put it in my car, and drove home. That was it. No questions asked, in and out in about 10 minutes.

Make you get a regulator,that it doesnt leak, and set a flow rate thats enough to maintain 2 hours of unconciousness (or longer) .

Dont set the rate so high it blows the bag off, hurts to breathe due to extreme pressure, but make sure your rate is high enough to keep you from ever having to exhale CO2 or inhale any Oxygen.

I bought this one off Amazon. Works fine. The meter is calibrated for Argon and Carbon Dioxide so you just have to do the math and adjust accordingly for nitrogen. It was much cheaper than the Max Dog Brewing regulator.

That is a great find. Not sure how to change the calibration but still cheaper than the one from the welding shop by 120.

You have to buy helium from a gas supplier or welding store. They should be fine...

All those disposable helium cannisters seem to be mixed with air.

I think a good rule of thumb is if the helium canister is red/pink, it's mixed with air and no good. The older ones that were grey/beige were good, but those are nearly impossible to find now.

EDIT: I'm talking about the disposables.

Helium King cannisters are grey however I wouldn't bet on it being pure helium.

There could be a leak somewhere in the circuit or in the bag. If you're not scrunching the bag up on your head to remove all air before inflating, or completely exhaling before pulling the bag down over your head, there could be enough residual oxygen to be causing a problem.

In the USA, I imagine it would be. In France, I have no idea. I'm just throwing ideas out there. The bottom line is that if you create and maintain an atmosphere of pure inert gas around your head, you will CTB. So somehow, oxygen is getting into that bag.

Well...Had a similar case to this. And I did it all right. NO AIR GETTING ANYWHERE.

That the company is misrepresenting that helium. If it were me, I would acquire nitrogen or helium from an industrial supply company. You can't fleece welders the way you can fleece people throwing a children's birthday party.
