What happens if we fail to hang ourselves? I want to ask about the possible outcome if I survive, in my case. I am very thin, my last weight was less than 50 or 55 kg, and my height is approximately 169 cm. I plan to do it using a thin scout rope under the stairs of my house. There are a few things I need to consider;
  • I don't live alone, although there is only one other person in my house, my mother.
  • I plan to do it while she is sleeping. Will there be any noise during the process?
  • If the process fails midway because the rope breaks or something, what will the consequences be?
I think using a small rope like that might be enough; the grip won't come loose because it's on the stairs, but I'm unsure if it will break or not while holding me for an hour.

Have you researched Evelyn's guide on here and watched the hanging videos?

The videos show how quickly someone passes out when done correctly.

How thin is your rope, 12mm approx diameter is ideal.

The tutorial is quite long, I think I have to learn just for this one thing haha

By the way, to answer your question, yes... my rope is probably too thin; even to the naked eye, it doesn't look like it's 12mm thick. Oh well, next time I'll invest in a real climbing rope. But wait, is climbing rope sharp? If so, how do I make sure it's not sharp?

Please don't do it while someone else is in your house. Its too risky!! Do it when you know 100% your mother will leave the house for 2+ hours. And also before doing anything learn all the knots and test your anchor point many times. If you fail the attempt you could end in a very bad situation where you'll be brain damaged and not able to even talk anymore and in general you'll lose most of your cognitive functionings. Be careful, very careful! Hanging is a good method because everyone can buy a rope BUT it needs to be done correctly!

Yeah, that's true. But all the methods you guys provide here have to be tried once, right? They can't fail at all, even if it's only used once (well, obviously not twice, haha)

I've practiced tying the knot around my neck and on the stairs (the restraint will be used for hanging), and everything seems safe. All that's left is the equipment and materials. Do you think doing it in the middle of the night is really risky, even if she's asleep? I'm getting a bit paranoid, especially since the stairs where I'll be doing it are completely open, not inside a room like a bedroom or something. I plan to buy a pull-up bar, then install it in my room if the stair plan doesn't work out

i think most cases of survived hangings are when someone finds you and cuts you loose
if the rope can handle your weight you are good to go

A mother may have a very strong emotional connection with her children it could even be telephatic. So you should not do it when your mother is so close that she could intervene.

You should also know the breaking load of your rope or at least test it.

Yes, we really can't fail. If we fail, our condition will be even more dire... Acute hypoxia is really scary, isn't it?
