I'm taking my diver belt and walking into the frigid lake/river in the early morning around 2 a.m. I'll probably spend the week before cleaning everything up and making amends. @Molded foundation please, you have 3 months. Figure out a more peaceful way to ctb than drowning/hypothermia in a frozen lake. That is literally torture.

I would hope si forces them to not even attempt in the first place.
I've done the polar bear plunge before, swam in the ocean in late November, fell in a frozen lake, and almost drowned in a pool once. I'm not worried anymore.
I swam in the ocean in December myself. Granted, it was in Key West, but still felt cold :)
I'm personally eyeing early November, maybe even before then. I can't make it to January
It's a cold way to leave.
I agree, unless you make sure with something external not to escape your instinct to survive will dominate you.
