Hi there,

I'm trying to figure out how to make an exit bag but the part I'm stuck on is connecting the tubing from the scuba mask to the nitrogen container.

I'm wondering what he used.

I'm also wondering about how many Liters I need, isn't 22 L or 84 enough, most places only sell that much here. Yet some places I read recommend 500! or 300! There's no way I can find a tank for that!

First off we need to clarify what method you intend to use since the gentleman pictured used a scuba setup, not an exit bag.

Exit bag is a much more simple setup utilizing just a bag and inert gas in its simplest form.

Scuba is basically a complete scuba setup but swapping the oxygen to an inert gas tank instead.

Regarding the size of the cylinder we talk about either empty volume or compressed volume. For example a 5 liter cylinder compressed 200 times (200 bar) is 1000 liters of uncompressed inert gas which can be utilized.

Look at what size the cylinder you're looking at and what pressure which later can be calculated how much inert gas which can be used. Around 300-500 liters or 30 mins of inert gas is recommended regardless of method.

I don't know how I could get access to 500 liters of nitrogen as most cylinders I look at are like this
And when I convert the volume on google, I end up with 22 Liters, their biggest one is just 130 L.

What do you think?

The cylinder pressure in this case is in Psi so we have to convert it first, 2217 psi = 153 bar x 16 = 2400 liters of nitrogen. It also conveniently states the volume at the bottom 2.26 m3, I don't really know why my calculations are so far of but it's only a ruff estimate anyway, maybe they used a slightly higher pressure? Regardless you have in this cylinder enough to kill you 3 times over maybe more if you use it sparingly.

I would advise doing your own research on the subject, it's your decision and being knowledgeable about it is a key to success. But to answer your question, you will need an adapter since the manufacturer didn't want anyone to accidentally use their nitrogen tank instead of the intended oxygen.
