At least those with access to doctors. Everyone is going to die and for most people that is a long painful process when old, most often ending in horrible experiences such as air hunger, chest pains, numbness and panic, on top of that a horrified grieving family who witnesses it.
But doctors and hospitals assist these "naturally" dying people with sedatives, pain relief and artificial air supply. They do this when they sense that the person, due to old age, has given up. We all have to come to a point where we are defeated by nature and entropy anyway. In fact, pro-euthanasia campaigns target mostly the elderly because they know there is little objection to helping the elderly infirm give up and go peacefully. But these same groups reject young people.
Nobody is telling a 98 year old that "it gets better" or "you will miss out on yummy pizza if you let yourself die now". No, even pro-lifers HAVE to accept defeat at some point ANYWAY. So there is not much difference in practice to a suicidal younger person. I have given up. I had a great life until a few years ago. Some struggles but good support... but then it all went to bunkum.
Now I have nothing to look forward to except finding something to distract me from mental pain every waking minute of every goddamn day. And I have no point in continuing. No goals that are meaningful enough as an anchor to life. I have accepted defeat and therefore it's time to go. But I'm denied a peaceful way to go just because I'm not 98 yet.
What a load of old hypocritical codswallop!
What's so wrong in accepting defeat? Even the Nazis and Samurais with their fanatical warrior fight-to-the-end spirit knew when to call it quits and chewed cyanide or speared their abdomen through.
