A very long but very, very well written article on the euthanasia debate. Specifically about the Netherlands, but applicable in general:

One can always raise questions. That's a natural thing. I don't see a problem.

It's basically a pro-life article with the usual slippery slope arguments presented, which have proven to be moot and just another example of scare mongering by anti-assisted dying people "except in the cases of terminal illness".

Also, we need to remove doctors from the equation in terms of letting them decide when someone is suffering enough to warrant wanting to end their life. If a doctor doesn't want to participate in an assisted death because of their own ethical qualms, fine. There will be other doctors who will, and if not, we can circumvent their participation entirely with the use of a poison pill. We can put safeguards into place, have a mandatory waiting period, offer access to therapists if someone wants it etc.

Most people cling to life; if we broaden the laws there will not be hordes of people lined up for their poison pill.
