I'm just curious how people that do erotic asphyxia by themselves generally don't die. What is it about their setup that helps prevent this? I'm NOT asking because I am into this but because I want to do partial and make sure my set up IS successful. I figured this may give me a clue on how not to fail. If they pass out from something tight around their neck, how do they assure they will wake up. I want to assure I don't wake up.

I'm only guessing, but I think most of the erotic asphyxia people don't intend to die so most of them are careful to leave themselves a reliable escape. I would imagine the ones that die doing this kind of rushed into it and didn't take safety into account.

I am just wondering if they pass from constriction around their neck, like from a rope, how do they assure they become conscious again?

I think they use a quick release knot. Do they can just pull it loose as they're "finishing". It doesn't always work and they end up dying.

Oh OK. That makes sense. I know someone that did die from this many years ago but the family told everyone it was a suicide because they were embarrassed.

Not sure how NSFW this is gonna be, kinda depends on sensibility, I'll spoiler just in case:
You want to almost pass out and orgasm at the same time. Ideally, you orgasm before passing out (but right before that) and then you release whatever contraption you have created to asphyxiate yourself. You get the timings wrong and you're dead.

Yes. You use your "free hand" to hold the rope, which is looped around a doorknob, a hook on the door, or the entire door, and is then wrapped around your neck as a ligature. If you pass out, your off hand lets go, releasing the tension, and you regain consciousness.

Some of the accidental deaths I've seen used fixed knot on their anchor point and tried to tighten the rope or belt by leaning in to it slowly so they can still breath but when when they lose consciousness extra pressure would be added tightening it even more and blocking everything on the neck. A good strategy for suicide but not if you're planning to see the light of day. Ligature is supposed to be set up in a way it loosens when you lose consciousness, usually held by hand.

Or even pressing carotids by hand, once consciousness is lost, pressure is reliably lost

One would need a partner for that. Holding pressure till they pass out then let go. The need for ligature I guess is to work around that issue.

The first rule for safe erotic asphyxiation is: "Never play alone!" Anyhow it is much more fun with a like minded partner. If you have no partner there is always the risk to end as an autoerotic accident.

Good to know. It makes partial seem more apt to be successful.

I think my odds of surviving autoerotic asphyxiation are higher than my odds of finding a partner lol.

I use a heavy duty choker and pull it taut with another hand. Lady, so…a phallus with a suction cup + a vibe. I only need one hand to do it. Should i pass out i instinctively breathe

I can think of better use for hands.
I think that a lot of people accidentally CTB during AEA is because they get greedy. They decide to use both hands for pleasure and tie themselves up to something in a way that's much too solid. Then, when they pass out, it's a permanent game over. It's just a guess, though.

came here to say the last bit. tons of cases of accidental death from this as drugs are also usually involved. but I see how you're relating it to partial OP.

Depends on whether you do it safely or dangerously. Safe AA has a reasonable chance of survival if careful, unsafe AA will probably be fatal after 1 to 10 rounds or so, depending on specifics and chance.

I'm not sure about the erotic part, but if you want to practice passing out, the only possible answers, IMO, are: 1) either hold the rope in your other hand, so as you pass out, you automatically let go of it and thus release tension or 2) do it with a partner.

Yes. You use your "free hand" to hold the rope, which is looped around a doorknob, a hook on the door, or the entire door, and is then wrapped around your neck as a ligature. If you pass out, your off hand lets go, releasing the tension, and you regain consciousness.

I've done a fair share of auto-erotic asphyxia while practicing hanging. My setup for it is to just have the rope be anchored to my office chair, that way if I do pass out - I'll just end up lying on that chair. Not the safest method by a long shot, but it works for me. Although I only recently discovered that I was doing it wrong this whole time, and the proper way of ensuring the boost of pleasure is to get to the state where your vision gets dark and you start "seeing stars" with no discomfort. For some reason that happens very randomly, which is a shame since I'm positive that's the exact state you need to reach if you want a painless passing from hanging. I assume there are a lot of factors at play here, even down to how you position your arms/shoulders.

Also thought I'd include this for funnies
