I have been thinking about the concept of dying lately. I don't mean the horrid pain that some people have to go through during the process or survival instinct or any of that. I just mean, how wonderful is it that after years of living, whether enjoying life and/or suffering, we get to leave this flesh puppet. That is why Buddhists shave their heads, become minimalists and meditate in nature. They know that letting go of attachments, that we may have to our body and worldly possessions, brings us closer to our true loving nature and raises our higher state of awareness. Thich Quang Duc set himself on fire to protest against the persecution of Buddhists by a corrupt government. Clearly he felt that the body was just a temporary tool that he could use in a way that would grab attention and alleviate the suffering and oppression of his people in the long run. Everything is temporary. Nothing lasts forever. Dying is oddly beautiful.
