At a lake I would have to put a heavy backpack on my back, tie it to my torso and tie my hands and legs to make sure I don't save myself.

At a sea I would have to swim as far away from the beach as I can until I'm exhausted, maybe drink strong alcohol such as vodka before entering the water to become more disoriented when the effects kick in so it's even more difficult for me to save myself. If I'm far away in the sea, if I'm exhausted and if no one sees and saves me then there's no way I survive, the currents should take me and I'll die. There's also an option to get a boat and then jump in the water with weights on me and my hands and legs tied up but it's more complicated to get a boat. I don't know for sure how the currents would kill me though if I swim, would they pull me under the water, would I sink to the bottom of the sea? I never got swept by currents before so I don't know exactly how it's like, but many people died from drowning before so I don't think anyone can survive being in the sea if no one else saves them. Maybe it would also depend on how the sea is when I enter, if it's more agitated then there should be more currents. A problem would be sharks, I'm afraid of them, I would rather drown than get attacked by one, in the sea I was thinking of going to, in the Black Sea, I heard there aren't dangerous species of sharks which are known to kill people such as great whites, bull and tiger sharks because the environment of the sea isn't very suitable for them, there are sharks but not the ones I mentioned which are the most dangerous ones, other types of sharks shouldn't be a problem but I don't know for sure if there really aren't any of the dangerous ones. It would just be a bit easier to do this method in the sea because I wouldn't need any planning but I don't know what I'll do. Also I know drowning isn't a peaceful method, that's nothing new, it's just one of the most certain and lethal methods if no one saves you. I'm curious to know opinions about this. Where would drowning be more effective, in a lake or a sea? I think both can be effective but what do you think?

I have thought of this method too, but people would intervene, at least where I am located. I have considered beach camping at night and trying it then. just walk out into the ocean like jeff buckley and never come out.

Sea has more rip currents never know which way they'll push you unless you know the area well.

There is rather a low chance u would be killed by a shark before drowing yourself. What u need to consider if there would be people who could "save" you from drowning. The depth doesnt matter because even if were still conscious while hitting the ground it would still be way too late. So there is no much diffrence u just need to consider if there is going to be anyone to save you

Do you think what type of clothes we wear would matter? If I wear normal clothes would it make it easier or more difficult to sink and drown? Salt water can make you stay afloat at the surface so it can be more difficult to sink. I thought about wearing just swimming pants without a shirt on so maybe having less clothes on me would make it easier to drown but I don't know if the type of clothes matters

Nothing in the Black Sea will eat you. If I wanted to die by drowning (I don't) I would buy a sea kayak and paddle far out to sea (20 miles or more). You can't sleep in a sea kayak (without it tipping over), and that far out I would not have the strength to return to land. To make double sure, I would discard my life jacket when far out, deliberately overturn the kayak, and then deliberately get separated from it. Death would be certain, and if the water was cold it would be rapid too. A very large lake would be suitable too, but there aren't many lakes where you can be 20 miles from any land.

imo you'd want heavier, less aerodynamic clothes that will make it harder to swim. But if you're banking on the water being cold to speed up the process, then choose something that isn't very insulating.

From a study (which I would highly recommend reading if you're planning on drowning as your method): "BHT [breath-holding time] in cold water (5C) in individuals wearing heavy normal clothing averages around 9.5 s, increasing to an average of around 20 s with a specialist immersion 'dry' suit and underclothing."

What do you think about this method, going to a sea, swimming as far away from the shore as I can until I'm exhausted? Do you think it's a reliable method? I think drowning is one of the most reliable methods, the problem is I know how to swim but I was thinking that if I swim until I'm exhausted then the currents would kill me, no matter how good of a swimmer someone is seas and oceans can kill them if they're exhausted. If I'm far away from the shore then I don't think anyone can save me so I think the method should work. Do you think the weather matters, if I go to the sea when the water is more agitated then could it make the method more effective? If the water is more agitated that means the currents are stronger. Maybe the season could also make a difference in terms of how effective the method can be, if I go there during summer then the currents might not be strong enough, even though I heard people died in the sea even during summer. If I go there during autumn or spring then the sea might be more agitated so it might make the method more effective. I don't think I would want to go there during winter because the water would be too cold, it's already cold enough during the other seasons anyway. Also about clothes, I could wear swimming pants without a shirt on. I'm not a big or muscular person, I'm skinny so maybe this could make it easier for me to drown but as I said before, salt water can make it more difficult to sink so I'm not sure how I could drown and make the method work faster, maybe if the currents are strong. What do you think about this?

The Black sea has swells big enough to surf and rip tides that claim lives every year. You'd be surprised how quick a rip tide can pull you out to the point that getting back without help is nearly impossible. If the water is rough you will get exhausted faster.

One consideration I have is that your survival instinct might be noisier if the water is agitated, causing you to scramble out of the water. If you want to get exhausted faster, I'd recommend wearing a backpack full of weights or something of the sort.
