I can see an upside personally :-) wake me up when it hits midnight. I would happily take the brunt of the apocalypse. I can't say it's because of purely altruistic motives. Anyone that wants to keep me company would be very welcome of course :-)

The Clock's original setting in 1947 was seven minutes to midnight. It has been set backward and forward 24 times since then, the largest-ever number of minutes to midnight being 17 (in 1991), and the smallest 100 seconds (1 minute and 40 seconds) in January 2020.

Its a fairly obtuse metaphor for looking at the demise of the human race.

The Bulletin's Clock is not a gauge to register the ups and downs of the international power struggle; it is intended to reflect basic changes in the level of continuous danger in which mankind lives in the nuclear age

I've always thought the doomsday clock was an interesting idea. How fun it would be to be on the committee that governs it. Also, who sets the thing to midnight when we're all toast?

I find myself thinking thoughts like that too.Last night there was an earthquake centered close to where I live,and instead of getting alarmed,I hoped that it would be the "big one".People talking about North Korea and Iran and nuclear missile fears,doesn't effect me at all.I wish they would fire one right at my house.
