I don't believe so, necessarily. Plenty of people die doing something they're passionate about, or become injured because of it. Passions can be a reason to stay alive, or something your brain tells you to live for, but they can also be the thing hurling you towards your demise. And lots of people are aware of that, but don't care and pursue their passions anyway. In the same way, people also lay down their lives for people/creatures they love.
But I see where you're coming from. I have pretty intense breakdowns almost daily where I play around and go back and forth on committing, but I always think about the books I want to read and it keeps my feet on the ground another day. Though I do end up disgruntled with the decision, as a book isn't going to make the day much better despite what my brain insisted the night before. Silly chemicals in our silly bodies.
