i was doing fine today until i opened R6 and....oh boy i feel like this is the worst day of my life

match after match i get team killers toxic chatters and toxic voice users telling me to kill myself and that i am really bad at the game

and wouldn't you guess it? they are all 13/17 year old kids

i just wanted to say that coming to this website makes me feel better and feel like home

Unironically yes. Especially for Smash Bros. I thought I was pretty good in Smash for WiiU but since Ultimate came out, I'm just so much worse at the game because of how much faster it is and the online system is pretty trash because even when it isn't laggy as fuck, people play so degenerately that I don't even have my main in elite smash. This mode also brings out the worst of my hatred and malice towards humankind.

I was a real lover of gaming from childhood up until getting sick in the last year or so. Now I'm unable to think fast enough due to impact on cognition. That's more of a factor in me ctb. I couldn't care less about being shit. I just wish I could enjoy playing at all. So take solace in the fact you have 1up on me there.

Rainbow 6 makes me shake like I have Parkinsons. I love playing casual but I cannot bring myself to play ranked because that mode will definitely make me feel horrible. When I do think thoes thoughts I realize its the pressure of the people playing not me being bad that makes me feel that way. Once I realize that I boot up a singleplayer game and the feeling goes away. Hope this helps.

Generally most games with a competitive scene will be chock-full of griefers, trolls, and just over-the-top shitty toxic people who are just basking in their anonymity to the fullest. I personally don't lose sleep over it, but if I were you I would just mute these assholes and move on. Also R6Siege is a haven for these guys lol

There is something about avoiding reality and being suicidal for sure.

maybe your brain automatically assumes whatever you're avoiding = something terrible.

So if you dread life as a whole and confide in online games you can make your life worse.

That's competitive games for you, I played League of Legends for a long time, I could handle it when I was a teen but these days it gets way too much on my nerves unless I am playing with people I know. I like to stick to more laid back stuff now.

Not sure about more suicidal but definitely can make you feel worse. I generally avoid playing online unless it's just with one other person that I know.

I always forget to mute them if that's an option, I think that might work but the initial memory will sting at first. If it's a game where muting them isn't an option that sucks.

The only good thing is you can find out someone cares about you playing online with them. When I used to play Halo games online with my brother he would rip people a new one if they started bashing my playstyle or something.
