Losing concentration is natural even for long time meditators like myself. Thoughts will come and go and if you lose yourself in thoughts, just go back to your breathing. Even if it happens a 1000 times.
You could check out eckhart tolle on youtube who does a way better job than me explaining mindfulness and meditation.

ive also heard about setting timers. i think they typically suggest starting at 5mins, but if youre having problems concentrating (something i also struggle with) maybe try starting at 2mins. or even 30secs if it feels necessary

Yes. It gets better with practice. Just don't punish yourself for getting lost in your own thoughts.

i find guided meditation helps with my poor concentration, like audios of someone telling you what to do just lets u concentrate on the important parts instead of worrying about doing it right if that makes sense. my therapist sent me this website that has a few different ones, ive yet to use it but thought id share in case u find it helpful, and theres bound to be loads on youtube.
it also depends what ur meditating for. for me i do it to try to help my anxiety, idk how much it can help for other things but theres a lot of different types of meditation. its definitely not a cure or the one thing thatll help everything, but it can be a useful coping tool in addition to other things. hope this made sense and was at least somewhat helpful :)

The practice of intentionally focusing on something develops your ability to intentionally focus on something. It's pretty much expected to lose focus almost immediately when you're untrained, but it certainly improves over time, even if improvement is super slow or nonlinear. When I started, I could barely count 3 breathes before losing focus. For me, meditation is the best way I've found to improve my concentration, especially when practicing it informally while going about the day, such as between activities or when walking.

As for whether it helps in regards to suicidal tendency, I'm still trying to figure that out, but for now I would say yes.

Isn't there something called meditation psychosis where you confront your angry feelings and feel worse and enter a state of rage?

I never heard about that. In meditation you don't confront your feelings actively. You just let them be as they are.

You can and will get confronted with bad feelings you push away normally.

It'll completely transform your life if you do it on a consistent basis!

The True you, the Witness, never loses focus.

Thoughts, feelings, sensations come and go, but you, Awareness, do not.

Mindfulness is like a muscle you build up, the more practice the less suffering and effortless happiness and peace, regardless of circumstance.

Because you'll realize that thoughts are creating problems by resisting the present moment.

With meditation you say "Yes." to all of experience and whatever is happening, that surrender, doing nothing, is Peace.

This meditation helped me get into it 7 years ago, it's a golden channel overall about self-actualization and spirituality.

Personally, it has helped me a lot. Some tips I would share:
- Be soft with yourself. Don't worry about doing it "right" and just be present with your practice. A Zen teacher I practiced with gave the comparison to weightlifting. Meditation isn't necessary about always maintaining concentration, rather it's about the repetition of returning to your practice as soon as your mind wanders. No need to feel shame around that. Even the most seasoned of practitioners have wandering minds from time to time.
- Experiment. There are many approaches to and traditions of meditation. If a particular method doesn't click for you, be open to other methods. I personally practice a variety of methods. Sometimes one doesn't click at the moment, but another does. Find what works for you.
- Be cautious. Meditation isn't for everyone. Some people report adverse effects from meditation experiences. Keep an eye on your well being. There are many religious sects that practice meditation. If you find yourself wanting to connect to one, be mindful of coercive control. (See BITE model for reference.)

I don't think it was psychosis but I did have a similar experience. I also recently did a 2 hour Vipassana meditation after which I felt a bit antisocial and irritable as well. I don't necessarily think this is bad as I tend to repress anger, so I think it helped to process and lift some of it off me, and start standing up for myself a bit more. Actual meditation psychosis sounds more like an acid trip.
