I've noticed that some people want to make a suicide pact with others, and I've even considered it myself. This is because the thought of someone committing suicide with me makes me feel calm and less anxious. I think others who make suicide pacts probably have the same psychological reasons. However, I also worry that if we actually reach the point of committing suicide together, will we still feel calm?

It entirely depends on the people involved, there is no universal answer for this.

Most people have doubts in their final moments, and tend to back out. Psychologically, this sounds appealing because having someone else with you reduces doubt; it gives the act a sense of structure and purpose. It feels safer because you're in each other's care. On top of that, it encourages you to go through with it because you wouldn't want to disappoint your partner and forsake their sacrifice, would you? Many people would feel incredible guilt if they willingly participated in a suicide pact and then didn't even fulfill their end of it. They could be argued as being murderers.

If either person does actually still have something of a will to live left in them, though, their doubts and fears will cause them to back off. It's important to thoroughly assess the true degree of determination and suicidality that your partner has.

It's all very subjective. There are people who are fine alone and others who need company. There are people who would never have achieved a great body at the gym if they hadn't gone to work out with a friend every time. Others, however, don't need anyone and are rock-solid physiques. As for suicide, I don't think it's exclusively about courage. Perhaps you're looking for company, or efficiency, or mental harmony. I've read that there are also people who seek guidance, someone to make important decisions. Others are looking for a traveling friend to travel the world with before giving up on everything.

OMG, what you said is really good. This will remind those who are easily swayed that if they don't want to let others down, they shouldn't make promises they can't keep. I also need to reflect on my own resolve.
I happen to be someone who usually prefers to be alone, but needs companionship when I'm contemplating suicide, haha. Traveling around the world is such a romantic idea, thank you for telling me, but unfortunately, even if I saved for eight lifetimes, I wouldn't have enough money to do it.

I don't know anyone that would be good enough to be in a suicide pact with me.

I have to pretend with people 247 and even in death have to have some moron with me too? No way.

Sounds bad but that's just how I feel about people, even ones going through hard times. They're still too normal.

I'd be okay doing it with my wife but she's okay mentally.
