I actually used to love my (creative) job. It felt like my purpose in life. It's more of a chore now but, I still hate it less than other things. The reality of having to work though- and having to work hard on top of all the other crap needed to sustain life is why I want out now.

Nothing feels worth the enormous effort required. I'm so tired of it all and I just want to be able to rest. A holiday really wouldn't cut it too and it seems unlikely I'll ever be able to retire.

i could never enjoy work, not even creative work. i just find things i'm forced to do a chore, and even if i was paid to do something i love by people that love my work, i would still hate working. but i'll always believe that no work is worse for someone's mental health, because depending on others just to survive and have nothing to call my own makes me feel like i'm not capable of doing anything.

9-5 is modern slavery. No human is built for that. Without capitalistic work, I probably wouldn't be suicidal in the first place.

I don't want to work or deal with whichever form of unwanted obligation. I've come to the conclusion that the need of accepting responsabilities and obligations isn't sufficiently justified and I'll die on this hill (pun intended).

Absolutely. Working is the bane of my existence.

I like how everyone voted 'Hell Yes' on this pole and the 'Hell No' option has 0 votes lol.

I'm the contrarian here. I feel a calm in my mind when I am putting things in order.

Gild holm ur i get where you coming from for me it used to be the same but shit happens in life and all of a sudden i could not remember how to do things i used to do for years which terrified me.

I used to be one of the hardest workers in my job and then at one moment my brain didn't work like before i didn't know how to do it anymore. It is so frustrating

I personally could function most of the work week relatively easily, but this overwhelming feeling of constant routine, tiredness and wishing to stop this cycle came in full force on weekends

I find it interesting that I can cope with the feeling lonely and isolated as long as I have work to break me out of my thoughts.

I joined here when I was stressed at work and I jumped from a 3-4 to a 7-8. Now works fine and I am back down to a 4ish level.

Yes, i've gone from doing fitness 2h per day, having a very active dog, doing work 6 days per week, doing all chores alone. To unable to do even the normal chores in house. I never thought it would come this far🥲

Yes. I used to like my 9-5 job until they moved me to another team (my 3rd team, 6th manager) and this fucking team is making me miserable. There are 3 of us in a team, these 2 other people like to talk shit behind my back and treat me like an exile. I found another job but still on my notice period so every day I gotta put on a fake smile, which is exhausting. Fuck them all.

Work is life. It's almost all that matters.
For most of human history it would have been constant. But it was also fairly defined and directly supported life.
A lot of work now is just soulless. I had a fun job and could be super creative, now it's pure corporate crap. I hate it.

Work is linked to survival. To me, that is absurd. I do not like being alive; I do not like being a human who gained consciousness through mere evolutionary chance—an evolutionary accident. There is no inherent purpose to being alive, and everything that exists is a creation of the mind. An ant would do the same thing if it had consciousness. There is nothing special about being alive; any bacterium follows the same programming. Dying peacefully would be ideal, because our programming makes inflicting severe injury upon oneself in order to die extremely difficult. It is difficult even for insects.

I always dread work. Capitalism definitely fucking drains me. We have to work and suffer or not work and suffer more. I think its cruel honestly to make people as vulnerable as us work like that. Not that we shouldn't work at all, but for me, trying to lift heavy boxes in 100 degree heat while being heavily suicidal certainly doesn't help.
How are we ever to recover under these conditions?

That sucks, if your demanded to do this and then it changes like that. I hope you can find the strenght to keep going

Yes, consistently soulless jobs are brain damaging, there is no real purpose their only to fill the useless needs of the world. Their are so many companies providing products we don't really need as humans and if you see through it, it don't make sense to keep running for this job. And they act weird if you get depressed

We are just some kind of virus or bacteria feeding of this world, having to survive by killing other species. This makes me believe this place is hell

And the most hardest jobs what keep society alive are the worst pay, while people behind desks make up stupid rules and don't understand the workplace that well just to make us suffer more. And they are provided with a liveable wage, while normal workers bust their butts and can't even afford anything that makes life even worth living

It's really hard to say for me honestly. Currently my job is causing me extreme anxiety, but I feel like there is no escape. I've been through periods of working jobs that made me want to, but then the time in-between when I couldn't find work still made me want to...
