i remember watching this video on youtube that was recommended to me titled "How Souls Games Saves You", and it posed an interesting situation. before this video popped up, i saw some of my favorite youtubers and completely random internet strangers talk about how dark souls specifically saved them from ending their lives. apparently the triumph over the bosses even after you die countless times had had a profound effect on their mindset. apparently it gave them a new sense of hope and confidence, and how it pulled them out of the darkest pit of their lives.

i admit, i started demon's souls a week ago on my PS3 and the time i've played it while dying multiple times and looking up strategies, it did take my mind off of whatever and i did genuinely feel amazing after beating the first boss and going through the second level. theoretically, it did save me. but a game cannot change the reality of the situation of why i want to die in the first place. yes, for people whose only problem in life are insecurities and issues with loving themselves (no shame if you're one of them, but just remember that people love you and there's always other options), triumphing dark souls might indeed save them.

what do you guys think? wanna hear your opinions.

I played all of them. Games in general won't change your life or 'save' you but they can be entertaining as hell.

Also people who find fs games that hard probably never played old platformers and beat em ups you had to finish in one sitting. Not to mention souls games can also be made easy depending what you do and use.

Maybe if someone's desire to die is based on some kind of neurosis that reduces to "Mistakes are bad! Failure is shameful!" A very difficult and punishing game that beats the shit out of you can probably rewire your brain a bit if that's the specific mental block. It could be enough for some.

The same is true for a bad trip on psychedelics. Like with the difficult game, you get the shit kicked out of you, the ego gets pulverized, and after the fact you eventually emerge stronger and wiser because you're not dead after having survived a form of hell that is now over. Not always, though.

i really wanna play mass effect. but i just cant get through the first one. it's so clunky and horrible to play. im sure it has a great story though.

dead space 1 is fucking great. i was halfway through dead space 2 on the xbox 360 before i sold it and bought a ps3. dunno if i should take it up again.

I don't know but i can't handle challenge in video games anymore, or perhaps i just don't care about "Getting gud"

I play on usually Very Easy or Easy modes just so i can relax, if i loose once in a game i usually just put it down or delete it.

Just can't mentally do it anymore.. lol

They corrected a lot of things in the legendary edition, there are many mods, I used to create mods as a hobby.

I played me trilogy recently and enjoyed it. I read me3 ending was received poorly back in the day but honestly I didn't find it bad at all.

Me2 is my fav but I liked light armor in me1 more than bulky ones in later games.

Glad they helped someone. That's nice. However, its kinda funny considering the condition the dark souls world is in. A rotting realm where decay is just perpetrated for the sake of survival. Hmmm.

honestly its one of the best series' to get you attatched and keep you playing, and by extent alive. One of the major reasons I've been around for the past month is that I got really into elden ring lol
something about the rhythmic challenges and self-improvement until you can succeed over these powerful gods is deeply satisfying, but I don't think personally enough to keep me tethered much longer
