• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

cutting isn't my method of choice but i do it fairly often. my main question is, does cutting my skin have any adverse health effects beside blood loss? assume infection isn't in the equation.

i ask this because im wondering if, on the off chance i survive long enough to try it, i could get a blood transfusion to help mitigate the blood loss problem, and there not be any more cutting-related health issues.

From what I understand, asides from the obvious risks of opening your hull to stellar born infections and contaminates...no, use a sterilized blade and all will continue to be fine, as far as the blood transfusion...I don't know how to respond to that...tagout!

It depends what you consider "adverse health effects."

Short term, as you mention, blood loss and infection are the main concerns. If you cut too deep, you can also damage other parts of your body, like tendons or nerves, which can cause pain or trouble moving. This becomes a long-term problem too.

Otherwise, also long term, depending on where/how deep you cut, scars can cause problems, because scar tissue makes it harder to move. Sometimes, psychologically, people are also really affected by their scars. I have some scars and they cause problems with sweating, pain, reopening, other people seeing them, range of movement, etc.

Personally I would find a different way to handle the emotions and as the action does generate dopamine though the "side effects" aren't good. That said I understand it. I am sorry for whatever you are going through.... There are a few things that can happen. You named a couple... But damage to the muscle is the first thing I would be concerned about, scarring this is obvious but maybe not thought about, you took blood loss out of the equation but I think you are talking about emergent blood loss... However, repetitive blood letting could cause things like anemia and iron deficiency. Which bring about other issues. Combined with the above you have the potential for emergent blood loss, anemia/iron deficiency, infection, almost a guarantee for the formation of scars, damage to the muscle, and etc.... Furthermore, if this is your coping strategy an issue that will be caused is you will need more cuts/deeper cuts etc... In order to get the same benefit over time. Similar to someone using drugs. In essence the point is in a once off case you can avoid issue... Over time it becomes more and more probable. Every time you are taking a risk. Lastly, in terms of this being a way to CTB I'll let others take the wheel for that but other methods would seem to be better as things like infection will be caught and your body is good at stopping blood loss.

nerve damage is a definite risk once you start going deep enough.
