Discussion Does cutting “down the street” always require hospitalization?

I'm been thinking abt going deep with cutting on my wrist, vertically "down the street", not as a ctb method but more so to push my boundaries. However I do not want to get hospitalized, I do not want to think of excuses and explain all that shit to doctors and especially do not want to end up in a psych ward, as I do not know for how long I could be held there and the stay would definitely be insanely painful for me mentally.

If it is noticed by someone, then, in my thoughts, there would be a chance of going to the psychic ward.

I have been in a few times, and it is a gamble, quality of food, humanistic care maybe by the staff, so I would think very carefully before doing something that could land me in the ward again.

If it's noticed, there's a good chance that you will be hospitalized... You'll probably be given the chance to go voluntarily but it could turn into an involuntary admission if you decline.

i plan i desinfect and bandage the cut after some time, so that it heals decently. It would most likely get noticed by other people, but they can't force me to go seek any care. Only thing I'm scared of is that I'll need stitches for a cut this size to heal, as i've been hospitalized for cutting once before

The people who notice can't force you to seek any care.. but if they contact the authorities, that's something different. The authorities aren't going to ignore what's reported and what they personally see.

Wear long sleeves, if that's feasible.

If it goes really deep you need stitches or it wont heal right. Also risking bleeding depending on how deep it is, and you're saying you are not using it to CTB.

As for ending up to the ward:
From experience, it depends how much the doctor really wants to bother. Had an instance where I cut the same area over a longer period of time which lead to uncomfortable feeling and weakness in that arm. Went to my old GP because I can't lift my arm up above a certain point. His response was: "stop cutting yourself if you can't feel your arm. It probably won't heal perfectly". Then I left his office. Sucks to have one forearm and hand permanently weaker, but at least it's not my dominant. Very inconvenient when i have to hold onto something heavy or pull with that arm though when I'm cold due to muscle and nerve damage (thank you norwegian winter..).

Be super careful cutting vertically if you don't wanna use it for your method or don't wanna end up getting stitches and risk going to the ward. I was sent there for other other reasons than cutting, it was disgustingly horrible. If you don't know the doctors, don't talk to them about it. They take no excuses (trust me). Once they conclude suicidality and they want to intervene, you will not get out of it. They will just label you as incompetent to make that decision at the time you show up.
I have never felt something so humiliating and dehumanizing until the ward. I'd rather go to prison.
