Hello. People usually suggest constricting the carotid artery with your hands to prepare for using a rope. My question is whether or not doing this is going to cause permanent damage or serious if I decide hanging isn't for me?
It's very stretchy and thick. You wouldn't do too much damage it's the brains cells and it's blood vessels you should worry about. But don't try to hang yourself it too often. If I failed once I'm looking for another alternative to suicide. I can't risk failure and permanent injury that will prevent me from committing suicide for good.
Using only your hands won't do any damage unless you hit something while falling because of unconsciousness (though I couldn't reach it either with the rope or hands). The arm muscles will instantly relax thus allowing the blood flow.
However, speaking from my experience, you are likely to rupture the face vessels and thus a lot of red dots may appear on your face. For me they disappeared after about 3 days.
I'd first recommend seeking for help before attempting such things but if you wanna know more, there are LOTS of hanging related threads here. You can find them using a search button.
