I have some liquor and prescription sleeping pills (zopiclone).

Wondering if compared to being 100% sober, not taking anything at all.

Will being a bit drunk, along with some sleeping pills, technically lessen the discomfort??

Will I potentially feel less pain, and also more at ease??

If you were to take a guess. Let's say drowning while sober is considered 100% discomfort

In comparison, what percentage discomfort do you estimate being drunk with sleeping pills will be??

I really have no idea but I'd imagine it DEFINATLY would have a good effect. Alcohol for me numbs my bodies senses including touch and sensation, so for something like drowning you'd probably feel pretty relaxed and numb to discomfort, and add sleeping pills on top of alcohols drowsiness effects? haha, you'd be so tired you could probably just fall asleep in the water. I'm sorry you're going through this by the way, much love.

I've been seriously considering this, as it's all I have access to

I heard drowning usually takes around 2 minutes to go unconscious

I always remind myself that's just a little over 100 seconds only. Should be over reasonably quick, despite it probably not feeling like it while it's happening

Hopefully the alcohol will help lessen the overall discomfort

this guy did this
it's pretty detailed. It's in the suicide resources thread so you might have seen it but still. Further comments and other posts from him also elaborate on it, and to what degree he thought the alcohol and medication could work.
I read it and considered it for myself for a while, but I wasn't convinced. Drowning can be pretty painful and stressing, usually is, alcohol can lessen that initially but it is also likely the brain would kick into SI gear fast and bad regardless. In the end I don't know. I'd rather you didn't do it, can't recommend at least, but consider it carefully. big hug <3

Imo it's all about the level of unconsciousness.

Can SI "wake" you up once you breath water and/or run out of oxygen?

Imo drowning isn't a peaceful way to go unless one is deeply unconscious. It's suffocation.

I really do hope you find peace, try and be gentle with yourself. drowning Isn't exactly the most peaceful way to go either, even with said drugs.

Reason I choose drowning is because doesn't require much preparation. And the concept is pretty simple. Just jump in during night time when there is no one around

Risk of failure is small. Although yes, discomfort will be felt, but I like the simple and low failure part

Just need to stay in there for 1-2 minutes lol (sigh)

One other thing that sucks is the sinking feeling. It'll be so nice if the water could just be a bit over your head, so it feels more like you're just standing up. But too bad that probably won't be the case. Sucks to sink into nothingness, especially at night.... lol

Why the fuck does life have to be so damn difficult!!!???

Will be so nice to have a partner to do this with. Maybe hold hands and jump in together. Will make it feel a lot less intimidating
