Wanting to Sleep for Eternity

I feel like im going insane. I can either sleep over 12 hours or less than 5 hours in a night and this changes constantly. Worse is no matter how much i sleep its never "good" sleep because i constantly awaken during my deep sleeping phases. Either way since this might be self suspecting N24 which means my circadium rhythum changes every day later and later which fucks with everything in my life, and sleeping pills dont help. I want to hear how many of you have "good" quality of sleep during the night day to day its kind of isolating

Yeah, somewhat. My circadian rhythm changes every other day. One night I'll sleep terribly, with a headache and still tired. The following night i will sleep well. Ad infinitum.

Not here to say that I get good nights of sleep sadly but I actually have pretty much the same problem as you. Sometimes I fall asleep quickly but wake up after 3-4 hours and can't get back to sleep at all anymore so a lot of short nights. Then I'll randomly have nights where it takes a while (3-4 hours) to fall asleep but I end up sleeping for 10-12 hours and it feels like during that time I constantly have vivid nightmares making me feel restless when I wake up. At this point I prefer the short nights honestly. I don't use sleep meds anymore either cause they stopped working after a while, presumably from getting used to it. There's no consistency to it and it sucks and it's impossible to like maintain a somewhat healthy rhythm

Same VERY same boat. Especially the part with vivid nightmares they make me restless and scared the entire day to when they happen and when i try to explain to people about what everything you said they just get confused and dont get it! Your reply is much appreciated šŸ©µ

I have a circadian rhythm disorder, so I take One 3mg Melatonin each night and I sleep good, though some nights are rougher than others, depending on my anxiety the night prior. It wasn't always this way, though. I used to take 20mg melatonin and 50 mg Benadryl every single night to fall asleep.

Fortunately I don't really wake randomly anymore. That being said, the act of falling asleep is it's own personal hell

I wouldn't say that I have insomnia and these days I do manage to sleep quite a bit, sleeping could be a lot worse but I never feel rested really, temporary sleep never seems to last long enough, and could never offer much relief as long as the chance of waking is always there.

i sleep to shut the voices up. So for me its a way to help with my paranoia, uncertainty, disapointment, etc. So, I try as much as possible to get 10 hours sleep in (doesn't always work out though). Sleep is just a refuge for me

I haven't been sleeping at all for what feels like 3 weeks now, just a few hours a night. Got some meds now but they will make health worse I'm sure of it.

Drives me insane and feeling totally weak, also can't eat so that has been a challenge, I'm wasting away

I'm the same way- either I can't get to sleep and end up sleeping a few hours and waking up ill the next day, or I sleep for 15 hours at a time. Plus what sleep I do get is usually interrupted by very unpleasant dreams. I have been prescribed every sleeping pill under the sun and nothing works for very long, if at all. The "medical professionals" don't seem to be interested in figuring it out, so I'm told that there is no more that they can do for me. I have tried otc meds as well as herbal, homeopathic , other various alternative medicines and acupuncture and nothing helps. What little sleep I do get is not refreshing. I can really relate. I wish that they would come up with a new sleeping pill. Wouldn't it be great if we could get N in tablets like they did years ago? I hope that you can find something that helps.

i need >10hours of sleep to even feel remotely ok physically, and whenever i'm asleep, its often full of horrible trauma-related dreams.

and then there are the days where i'm physically tired but still can't fall asleep... and i end up staying up the whole night

i rarely feel well-rested honestly

I tend to sleep the normal amount, sometimes a little less but I stay up really late and wake up late. I never feel rested when I sleep so when I wake up it feels like I never slept, and I'm exhausted all the time. I take melatonin to help me sleep and it helps sometimes, I would definitely be up even later without it. Sometimes I also have bad dreams about my trauma so overall I don't have the best sleep.

I sleep 2-4 hours per night with antianxiety meds and multiple wakeups. Body just refuses to stay asleep more and I can't take naps either. Waking is that oh shit I'm still alive feeling, and oh shit I have to waste 20 hours before I can do it again.

CTB will solve all this if I can work up the nerve to do it.

Sleep schedule is all over the place for me. Some days its 2am-12pm. Other days I have to wake up early so I will only sleep for a few hours then.

But I have a lot of head pain derived from mental agony, I tend to rest a lot. Other times it keeps me awake all day and then I would collapse from the weight of exhaustion.

luckily I have pretty good sleep without any disturbances, though it's a different story when I wake up. a full on body ache and a horrible fatigueness, tho they pass pretty quickly. maybe you should try to maintain a sleeping schedule, or listen to calming music when ur abt to sleep? not a pro at this so not sure srry

I do/did both of these things even now but nothing seemed to fix my waking up during the night, otherwise i can function or not function at all depending how "good" i slept regardless of hours šŸ„¶šŸ„¶

Lots of things can affect sleep patterns. If this is a problem of long standing (as opposed to something caused by unusual circumstances that have arisen fairly recently) my guess is that you will struggle to manage it on your own. If you can, it might be a good idea to consult a physician who specializes in sleep disorders.. That's not guaranteed to help, but it might.

My sleep "schedule" is so out of wack. Some nights I collapse at 9pm, other ones I am kept away by paranoia, panic attacks, etc, until 3 or 4 in the morning. Nothing is stable in my life, nothing is certain but pain.

Late at night are often when I'm at my worst. They are when I take that knife to uh skin, when I have breakdowns and miserably fail to strangle myself in my dilutions. Nights are when the memories come back, of all the people I wasn't able to help, of all who I lost, of what I lost.

Sleep isn't a thing, it's a lack of a thing.

I actually haven't slept properly for a long time. It's one of the reasons I'm suicidal.

Both. Mostly because I pass out from mental anguish almost every night. I have a very unlivable daily life.
