  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Trapped in space and time

I was thinking of setting one up but don't know if I want to deal with the red tape and hassle. It would apply if I ended up in the hospital on life support and couldn't make my own decisions. It also would apply to any situation in life or old age that would result in this scenario. I don't want to be trapped while some pro lifer forces me to stay alive and suffer. That is what I was thinking. Its probably not a bad idea to have but is it really worth pursuing? What do you think?

Similar to a DNR order. Do not resuscitate. If you fail and attempt or are in an accident and end up on a ventilator, life support, feeding tube, etc and cannot communicate then they will do everything they can to keep you alive. You could end up on a breathing machine and things I just mentioned indefinitely for years. If you have a DNR order and advanced care directive in place then they have to honor your wishes which would be to die naturally without being on machine that will prolong your life and suffering. Make sense?

You have to have 2 people to sign it who could speak for you. Idk if they would still honor your wishes with your signature if the person who is speaking for you disagrees. Or they have too idk. It would be a horrible situation to be in and could be prevented by setting this up. It also has to be notarized I think which sucks. I'm going to look into it. If I ctb and didn't fail it wouldn't matter but it still applys to accidents, old age scenarios, dementia, and anything that will put you in hospital and steal your freedom. Then you are trapped and can't get out. So I guess it's best to have and be prepared unless you want to be potentially trapped.

I remember and older case of a guy who went out into the woods behind his house and tried to hang himself. He was found by police and saved. He had brain damage and couldnt move etc. He could only blink, and that's how he would respond. His mom kept him on life support for a long time. I don't remember how long it was but it was like a year or 2. They asked him if he still wanted to die? Blink once for yes and twice for no. He blinked once. He finally died.

In the directives I've seen the 2 people who sign are just witnesses and can't contradict your wishes. You can appoint an agent who can speak for you if you want but they can't contradict any wishes you state in the directive either. They just address any issues that you haven't covered. The ones I've seen didn't have to be notarized.
