I suppose we do have robots to assist us but, I'm thinking more of one who will go and make me something to eat and bring me a cup of tea. I'm so tired but, I still have work to do and I know food will pick me up a bit if I muster enough energy to go and get it.

I wouldn't want a person to look after me. I don't want to feel indebted or reliant on a person but, I just want to have chores magically done for me so that life isn't all work.

If you had a robot companion, would you want them to be sentient or, would you feel guilty about that? It would effectively be slavery if they are programmed to serve.

Would you want a robot assistant? Would you want it to be humanoid or something obviously robotic? Male or female? I think I'd prefer a male (voiced) robot and not realistically human.

It would be nice to 'talk' emotions with it/ him but then, it would feel too cruel to condemn it to being sentient.

I'd love a non sentient robot to make me a cup of coffee or cook me dinner, but I wouldn't want any weird Wallace & Gromit style contraptions

I'd love to have several robots, doing things for me. The Boston Dynamics Spot, would be my favorite form factor, so far. It's aesthetically pleasing, and I'm fascinated by how it moves.

I don't think slavery is inherently immoral.
I think most life forms have evolved to suffer from slavery, rendering it immoral. I don't think this has to apply to robots.
I would not want a robot striving for freedom or autonomy.

I think sentience is a fuzzy term, and don't like to think in terms of it. I consider it a high level concept, and something of an illusion born out of intelligence and perception. I'd want my robots to be "sentient", though.

When it comes to wanting a robot to look after me, I would want them to emotionally look after me by hugging me and calming, soothing and comforting me. I would want them to look after me like a mother would. I would especially like this for when I age regress so I can have a parent figure look after me and give me that kind of parent love when I am in that more child like mindset. Doing chores and making food is a nice bonus tho.

They don't have to be sentient but I just want them to give the illusion they are. Also they need to not be too repetitive and robotic in what they say as thats a gripe I had with talking to AI. They don't necessary have to be human but just look friendly and be of course comfort to hug with. I would prefer a more feminine voice with it just cus of me being more comfortable with the average feminine person than the average masculine person.

If a robot is programmed to have limited intelligence, then it will just be a machine. However, if it's allowed to integrate with true AI it will end up being an autonomous living thing.

I'm a fan of the Warhammer 40K universe. There are servitors there that are programmed to have limited aptitude.Umm, to be honest, it's not that cool I guess. It's pretty dark fiction.

I played Detroit Become Human a few years ago on the PS4 when it was free.AI and robotics are definitely a concern of mine in the future lol.Hope I don't lose my job in that period of time.

I wouldn't really want to have AI that is truly sentient and can think for themselves cause they will end up suffering like we do,most likely.

I'm not joking, I was looking at this thread before I left for my jog this evening, and thinking about it still, when this song came on and started playing:

So, yes, robots for everyone!

a robot or a human that actually cares and isn't doing it for money or a sense of duty, either one. cooking, cleaning (dishes and home), laundry would be a start. i think an autonomous move-around-y type robot would creep me out whether or not it was self-aware, and whether or not it was humanoid. most likely it'd have to be extremely robotic, or so not robotic i would never be able to tell it was one.

I have critically low energy in general. Showering, laundry, grooming, basic stuff like that I find exhausting. I keep up with it all, but it takes a lot out of me. I would definitely want a robot to handle daily minutia like this. The only caveat is that it would have to be in the form of an alluring female robot. Not some Rosey out of the Jetsons. None of that dowdy shit. I'm talking Brooke Monk with sentience and a totally unnatural love of domesticity. A dude can dream I guess.
