• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

I'm originally from a third world country too, I feel mostly indifferent about it. While, I think I would be having it much easier with first world citizenship and and Caucasian features, I'm not necessarily unhappy with where and what I was born as.

So sorry you had to go through that. And happiness is relative, even if you are in objectively better position than me at life, you can still be more unhappy and depressed so you pov is totally valid.. But a question, would you prefer being of any other ethnicity than what you are right now?
Thank you for being kind. It means a lot to me. It's easy to have differing opinions on things without being rude, but some people really struggle with that.

I try extremely hard to not put people into boxes based on ethnicity so it's really hard to decide if I would rather be a different ethnicity. I love Japanese culture so I would be proud to be Japanese.

I'm white, I don't think I can relate to this at as much as others here. That said, I do have issues due to my ethnicity, but I'd rather not talk about it. I don't hate my ethnicity, I hate those who intentionally divide others for personal gain.

There is a rise of fascism and just being white isn't a silver bullet "anymore".

People who benefit from dividing others will find a way to do so. Be it ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or something else.

I understand that the need to belong is strong. If many around us are different (in any way) you can feel uncomfortable. But the only thing I hate here is that some people intentionally try to make people fight each other and that is an issue that strengthens it.

Sorry if fhis is vague, I'm often vague on purpose here.

It's because of me. This person for some reason has it out for me so I cannot post on this forum with any sort of opinion without it going to shit. I'm sorry, it's my fault.
Not your fault ~ this thread was inevitably going to end up in an emotionally charged race-based argument about who has it worse / who has "pRivIleDge" etc so don't apologise.

SaSu is not the place for this bs the rest of the internet feeds off of this. If anyone is enjoying this I would like to recommend X to you. They will talk about race all day with you - enjoy.

How do you know? You are shielded by your privilege from a lot of the bullshit that people of colour have to go through. Also, being white isn't an ethnicity. It's a race. Nobody is going to go after a white person who is proud of their ethnic roots, such as if they are of Irish or French descent. There is a difference between "white pride" and showing appreciation for your ethnic roots. My mother is an immigrant and she has had to face all sorts of racist bullshit while living here. She has struggled financially throughout basically the entirety of my life, so I have no clue where these "handouts" are. She probably would have loved to have had some considering the amount of times she's struggled to pay rent. There are no double standards against you. Stop pretending to be oppressed.
I agree with you. Despite the mix of genes and cultures in my family tree, I am white.

And it's completely foolish to say we're not privileged because we're that color. Even worse is to play the victim disguised as pride.

-----------
Race refers to dividing people into groups based on their physical appearance.

While ethnicity refers to the identification of people from different geographic regions, including their religion, language, and other customs.

Generally, race is something that you inherit as an identity, while ethnicity is something that you learn over time.

Can you see that maybe this is why I don't enjoy being white? Because I'm not allowed to say that I've faced any kind of backlash or whatsoever just because I'm not a person of colour?

Here's a prime example, and there's no arguing on this one. I applied for a job that I had the exact qualifications for. I was told to my face that unfortunately they were only hiring a person of colour for that position and handed me my resume back. That's white privilege right?

You know what. It's not even worth it for me. yall win. I don't have the strength anymore.
yes you have white privilege. what you went through with that job application is the production of inequality towards people of colour. its nothing of "oh no white people cant have opinions or feelings" its can you not be ignorant? people are rejected all the time from jobs because of being a poc, people are raped and fetishised for being a poc, people are beaten and verbally abused for being a poc etc. YES you can talk about these issues without acting like a victim of society (especially living in a western country) because youre white. instead of being defensive, pls listen to people who are telling you their perspectives and why what youre saying just doesnt make any sense. yes its bullshit.

I am white and a lot of times hate my ethnicity.

I hate how everyone talks about white privilege. I know it's a thing but it's not as pronounced as a lot of people are led to believe. Being from Canada, our country is focused a lot on inclusion, which is great. But it's getting to the point here that we are marginalized because of the countries need to please everyone. It's like we're being forgotten about. People new to the country get tons of handouts to help them get established when they come here, but many of us are struggling for housing and putting food on our tables. We are taxed to death here. We don't get handouts.

I also hate that if we are proud to be white, we are instantly called a racist. Literally every other ethnicity is allowed to be proud except for us. Coincidentally, tonssssss of other ethnicities are racist towards us, but are never, ever accused of being racist. That's just not a thing.

I don't think it's fair. That's my opinion though. I'm not here for an argument so please don't bother.
I AM NOT WHITE, BUT THESE THINGS ARE HARD TO IGNORE

Inclusion is complete shit, at least the way it is sold in the west. Inclusion is to make people more acceptable towards mass immigration which completely changes the voting demographics of a country and is used to generate instant money for banks via debt. An of-age immigrant comes into a country and can take out loans which is like creating money out of thin air for a bank and much quicker than waiting until a local turns 18... That's why they say that mass immigration adds to GDP, that loan is now part of GDP. Don't you think it's a little weird that we have witnessed WAVES AND WAVES of immigrants (mostly male) only to western countries??? They 100% get support by non profits (both money and knowledge) and by the governments themselves in the form of housing, helping them get on their feet, other stuff... A lot of these things are not given to the local population.

Also, deadbidaylight's example of her going to a job and getting denied due to her being white also 100% happens. There have been leaked videos of a disney exect stating this very thing. Most companies have inclusion quotas... These are 100% legit concerns and if you look around you will notice that something very weird is happening in western countries. Ask your selfs why? I feel like the argument of "You're white! You have no idea what we colored people go through" is not fair and very misinformed. Unless @deadbidaylight
is a multi millionare, I think she's getting fucked like the rest of us are... Maybe even worse since hating white people is super cool now...

If you think I'm being a bigot/conspiracy theorist, I don't care... But ask yourself this: Is it not weird that there are massive waves of immigrants pretty much in every western country? How does that change the host country? Does that change voting? Is there a coordinated push by media/ businesses/ social media towards accepting these things? Why is that? Where does it come from? What has the population makeup of western countries looked in the past and what do they look like in the future? Do people of ANY race naturally look out for their own interests first and tend to stick with people of their own background? How does that relate to voting?

A lot of questions.... 🤔🤔🤔

Here is an example of someone talking about it, before any one says it's just some obscure person, she is only one example of many...

There are people who are on SaSu partly because things like racism have led to them becoming suicidal. Why is it that when people call out others for making ignorant posts in regards to race, all of sudden it's "I would recommend X to you"? Seriously, she decided to say something that was incredibly ignorant and people are calling that out. She isn't a child in need of coddling and we are allowed to point out issues with her post if we want to. For many on here, racism is something that impacts them every day so comments like theirs are insulting.

I'm just going to put you on ignore. I can't deal with this bullshit anymore.

THANK YOU!! It's literally exactly this!! Every year we are getting pushed down and are going to be the minority in our country very soon. The grants, cars, houses etc given on arrival to immigrants is 100% true. I live right near the nations capital and I see it every single day. I literally watch it happen.

And I don't care what anybody says, being a Caucasian Canadian does us zero favours here. Seniors and veterans are literally living on the streets and can't afford medical care, meanwhile 100% of healthcare for immigrants is covered.

By being inclusive to the level we are, we are actually erasing Canadian and predominantly Caucasian traditions and beliefs. In schools, it's not longer "Merry Christmas", it's "happy holidays." They have been forbidden to put up Christmas trees during the holidays. Many Christmas concerts aren't put on for
Families anymore. It's okay for everyone else to have their beliefs, holidays and traditions here, but ours are being erased in order to be inclusive. That's not inclusive to me. To be inclusive would be to respect every ethnicities traditions and culture, but still celebrate our heritage at the same time.

@Nobody'sHero thank you once again for being a voice of reason and for sticking up for me. And thank you on behalf of us "whites" because so many people just don't seem to get it. We're white so we don't feel. That's not the case at all.

And I am soooo fucking far from a millionaire. My family lives straddling the poverty line and has for years. It's not easy being Canadian in Canada.

It's a super fucked situation that is going on in pretty much every western country. You find examples from England, US, Norway, Sweden, France, etc... That's the reason you see so many "far right" movement. It's a natural response to ask yourself: what the fuck is going on? Right wing movement tend to be more nationalist and conservative (NOT SAYING IT'S RIGHT OR WRONG, IT IS WHAT IT IS). I think this has many goals like I said in my previous post, but one of the goals is to create division... While people are busy fighting each other about it, someone at the top is trying to fuck every one... Unfortunately that is the shit world we live in... Among other things, this is something that makes me super depressed. There is some MAJOR fuckery that has been going on for the past 100 years, entire nations being destroyed...

It's also not the immigrants fault, they are being used to accomplish other objectives. It's a super sad situation for everyone...

Being a poor white person in any white country must suck major ass, no offence... Also every race/ group of people is pretty fucking racist... There are extremes, but I think it's one of the most natural things. OFCOURSE, for the most part, people are going to prefer the group which they belong to...

Another example, just one of MANY

Roosevelt hotel in NYC was used as a migrant shelter for years. So the government was paying the owners a 100% occupancy rate for years (WITH TAXPAYER MONEY) , and on top of it made it illegal for the police to go in there and investigate things... This obviously made it a hub for criminals even though there were some honest migrant families residing in there... A 1 - 2 punch where the only winners are the criminals that were there and the millionaire owners of the hotel... Like... WHAT THE FUCK!?

I find conversations around race and ethnicity tricky. I can only go by my own experience being a 34 year old woman from a mixed race family living in the uk. So my mother was from the Caribbean of African, Indian and Portuguese decent. And my father was English/Belgian. my Caribbean grandparents never moved so I didn't have much of a relationship beyond phone calls and birthday cards. With race it was weird I'd best describe myself in a category like Mariah Carey or Meghan Markle. White in appearance. I have experienced racial tension from both sides if I'm honest. When I did a DNA test I was 73% European blood that was mostly Portuguese, germanic and English. I don't know if I "hate" my race (as I was a bit confused if I'm one thing) but I did have feelings I wished I looked more like my mother. It was also the fact my mother was very loving, gentle, kind and beautiful inside and out. So it would have been an honour to be more like her. That feeling intensified when she died, i felt lost. It would be great if we as people didn't judge each other on skin tone. It really baffles me to be honest. I think as the world mixes more hopefully we can see there isn't really much difference at all.

Can we at least agree, that despite the different ethnicities we represent and challenges we encouter, we all collectively face issues more so because of the society we're part of, as a poc from a third world country, I've definitely had thoughts where I thought perhaps being another ethnicity would've been better but it dawned on me how it just reflected how messed up everything is at large. Hopefully this conversation can proceed without having to go astray, different perspectives can all provide moment of understanding and clarity for us all.

I have no problems with my ethnicity, my ancestors were Prussian Protestants over centuries. I know it from the Aryan certificate of my parents. This is not surprising since religious and language borders are also marriage borders. I broke with this tradition as the mother of my children is Jewish.

Off topic but Im jealous of people with tan and darker skin cause they tend to look younger than they are less wrinkles sorry if that sounds vain
I think that is just a matter of genetics, I have a darker skin and I look older than I should. Stress, diet and me not doing skin care could have something to do about that.

I actually love my heritage, I'm proud of being Latino, mestizo, descendant of Muiscas and Pijaos.

What i hate is that my heritage and birthplace represent a disadvantage in this fucked up colonialist world. Systemic racism and discrimination are still too real. The reality of it is that I had to work three times harder to have three times less than someone from my same generation/social class in the US or Europe. Just look at the exchange rates: my life is simply worth less because of where I work.

And sure, I could try living abroad again. But thay not only means being forced to be away from home in order to have a better life, it also means you'll NEVER fit in. No matter how good your English is, no matter how hard you try to learn German language and culture —fuck, it didn't even matter that I'm light-skinned and 1.85 tall— you'll always be seen as different and often treated as less. People don't even bother getting your name right even if you share your name with a fucking Lady Gaga hit song.

I even had to deal with racism in the fucking government organization that gave me a scholarship to study in Germany and had to sit down and be humiliated by a middle age whore who lived life in easy mode and enjoys torturing people with higher education from third world countries just so she can feel better about spending all her privilege in being a paper-pusher.

And this is all without mentioning the surface level bureaucratic stuff or the dirty looks at airports. At the end of the day, being proud of my ethnicity isn't worth much if the world is still stuck in its racist and colonialist past.

I am fine with people disagreeing with my opinion. That's the nature of a forum. It's open for discussion. My issue is the fact that it couldn't be discussed in a respectful manner. Being attacked is much different than a civilized discussion.

I shouldve said Caucasian instead of white. Would that have made a difference at all? Technically I am from Scottish and English descent. But that's irrelevant because when people see me, they don't see that. They see white skin so they just assume I've been privileged and lead a privileged life. What they don't realize is in Canada, that's now a detriment. Maybe it's not in other countries so they can't see that, but in Canada it very much is.

I'm not going to get into it again because I'm tired of trying to elaborate on my stance because no one is interested in listening or caring because I'm the white devil. I couldn't possibly feel discriminated or the like because I'm not coloured. So it is what it is.

I appreciate you being respectful in your comment even though our views don't align. Thank you for being mature.

I don't want to start a fight with you but I think you're being too harsh on her. Just because you don't agree with her, doesn't mean her arguments are ignorant. Her experience of being denied a job due to being white is fucked up, it's racist. I'm a white immigrant living in the UK and I've had a woman come up to me accusing me of stealing English husbands, out of the blue just because she heard me speaking my native language. There are also many other encounters worse than that which I'd rather not get into, but this to say that just because POC are marginalised, which they are, there's no denying, that doesn't make that user's experience okay or fair.

I know you mean well and I think you're a smart individual but I also think it would benefit you greatly to not jump to people's throats like that due to differing opinions. Please remember we are all suffering, you can't claim to know what her experience is like or what mine is like.

Just because someone is white, doesn't mean they have an easy life or white privilege. If that was the case, neither me nor that user would be here, same for a lot of other people.

I won't respond after this as I don't want to increase tensions, I just felt like that user didn't deserve how you treated her.

Yes, racism is real, but I feel like it's more of a class thing... Either you have tons of money or you get fucked with... We are most likely on the same boat, independent of race... <3
We're not all in the same boat. I had black friends who lived in deprived areas. Who's neighbours were white and working class. They would call them the n word on the street, sometimes try to fight them. They would put shit through their door. These people were on the same economic standing as my friends but they saw them as the enemy based on their skin color. My nephew was recently being picked on and called the n word at school by follow working class boys. I wish everyone was like you, and felt that we're all in the same boat. But unfortunately people are experiencing racism from people of their own class.

I see where you are coming from and I'm very sorry that happened to your friends. I'm aware this goes on, but it is what it is... Like I said in a previous post, pretty much every racial group has racists due to in group favouritism. Ask a 100% Chinese person what they think about black people, or mexicans, or even other asians... Ask certain black people what they think about white people... The point I'm trying to make is that it's not just isolated to white-black racism. I know for SURE mexicans are super racists. I guess I just have a very different opinion about this stuff. Again, this is just me, but I don't really care if someone calls me ethnic slurs... Not just that, I believe this is way bigger than race and if we are stuck making it about race then we will never be able to solve the real issue, which is ALL of us getting fucked by the systems set up in our respective countries... I'm not trying to offend anyone and to a certain point idc if I do, this is just the way I see it... Independent of race, white, black, yellow, green, blue, red, bosnian, I pretty much dislike everyone hahahaha

ethnically I am somali and i just don't feel proud about it, it's one of the reasons why I want to kill myself

I am grateful I live in a first world country but i still interact with my culture and I have the features of it
I love being black. Being Audhd and having an abusive mom and stepdad has caused me more distress overall. I'm not ashamed of being neurodivergent either.

It's funny how everything got messed up by a certain user who can't differentiate between race and ethnicity. As if she were the only white person on the forum lol This is the second thread she's ruined.. To make matters worse, after throwing out her venom she plays the victim.

Technically, I'm Hispanic (my family is from Spain) but my ethnicity, idk it's not really a thing. I kind of wish it was but Americans are sometimes very naive about this (and maybe in other
Countries too) I speak Spanish fluently, it is my first language, I celebrate a lot of Spanish holidays and within my family our ethnicity plays a role in our familial culture. But Spaniards are often white, I'm a white person in America and I end up getting in these annoying arguments with people over it sometimes because how could I be Spanish if I'm white? LOL đź«  I don't hate my ethnicity and I'm proud of my culture/ where I/my family comes from. But I don't much mention it because I'm not going to defend whether I'm Spanish or not (I was literally born in Spain!!)
Side note, I haven't read through every single one of these posts but I can confidently say white Americans do have white privilege. And it may not be in the forefront things that people think necessarily, but statistics prove that we are taken more seriously by medical professionals, less likely to be victimized by law enforcement and are held to lower standards within our judicial system, often receiving less punishment for equal crimes compared to people of color. I'm not sure what this has to do with ethnicity but I saw it was a topic mentioned so.. idk, there is no point in denying white privilege in this country. It exists and it invalidates the very real experience for non white americans.
