Does anybody else finds the site name weird?

The site name feels like a whole Nazi dog whistle. It's not only the fact that people abbreviate it to SS. But also the fact those letters are literally shown at the top of the page. Ever since late 2024, I've been more weary with dog whistle and I hope this site isn't a dog one. I know some people will call it a reach but it's staring right into my eyes, it feels almost intentional.

I think people have become more aware of the connotations with the abbreviation, which is why you can now choose to hide the header, and also why people have started calling it SaSu. SS is a terrible acronym given the content of the site.

no, while I'm not the biggest fan of the name either, it's not related to Nazism at all~ deadman5551 specifically named it Sanctioned Suicide because he desired for people to discuss right to die issues on it and hopefully help lead to the sanctioning of sewer slide~ :)

I do kinda wish the logo could be changed to a similar one that says SaSu, but I imagine that would be complicated. It's an unfortunate acronym, definitely.

SS also means "steamship" if that helps

there's a button to hide the logo in settings, not a perfect solution but good to hide it, especially in public

I think they associate it with the double sig rune, a symbol used by the other SS (Schutzstaffel).



I didn't personally make the connection since lighting bolt is a pretty commonly used symbol and it doesn't really look similar to the one used by nazis.
