Usual UK death rate is around 550,000 annually.

COVID-19 estimated to affect up to 50% of population and kill approximately 2% of those. That is 600,000. So this disease could double the UK death rate this year.

My 76 year old dad had pneumonia a few weeks ago. He is also sole carer for my 75 year old mother who has very advanced MS.

My 3 year old son was born prematurely and suffered bilateral pneumothoraces and sepsis. He spent weeks in the NICU on a ventilator.

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have read the latest government advice. If I contract CO19 in the days/weeks before I give birth, I will have to wear a mask on arrival at hospital. I will be isolated during labour. I will not be allowed entonox. I may be separated from my newborn for 14 days.

I'm scared. I worry and panic.

I don't have any knowledge to comfort you.
I wish that I did.
As one mother to another, I can only send strength, hope, peace, hugs, and healing thoughts.

Well, I've heard different things but what I can gather now is that it won't. Reason why I had taken a hiatus here is because I'd been following the virus from the very beginning of the Wuhan epidemic and it had taken my mind off suicide temporarily. Whatever happens, the outcome will no doubt be very significant.

Harsh, but I admit that I have the same sentiment.

Selfless reason: I think humanity could do with a hard reset button or at least a re-structuring of the status quo.

Selfish reason: It would completely undermine the past mistakes that I had made which brought me here.

It's really shocking to me how many people keep denying and minimizing despite all the evidence. They've been doing it for weeks to months irl and online and each day's facts just prove how wrong they are. "All Chinese lies" then "No big deal just a flu" now "shutting down travel and its bad not not THAT bad" etc. It's so frustrating seeing the sort of denial and victim blaming that ruined my life explode on a worldwide scale. Human nature on full display...and it's not a good show. I fully expect when the curve flattens out and live returns to relative normality most will STILL minimize it if it didn't affect them more than annoyance. I guess I had already given up on humanity...it's just I didn't really want such a bold reminder as bad as things are in general before this happened.

The Corona is on fire right now.
There is certain death whiff.
Hospital fulls of crowd. Almost overflow.

If you're that keen to die and not worried about pain and (a long period of) suffering, virtually any method discussed on this board would be better.
Personally, if I get it I'd rather stab myself in the heart than be tormented for days or weeks with blinding headaches, feverish delusions and the slow suffocation of my lungs filling with fluid.

EDIT: And I really don't want to stab myself in the heart. That's not what I had in mind when I first considered making my own peaceful end.

Yes, judging by the UK reply to it today after, more useless than even Donald Trump. They want us out. The old people, the vulnerable. Everyone is an economic unit now and has no worth as a human.

I understand what you mean. The "It's just a flu!" crowd are such idiots. You don't quarantine 750 million fucking people over "just a flu."

I think it's easier for most to accept their fate than actively deciding it.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't die from the virus, it would just be unpleasant. And I don't think it will wipe out humanity, but something about doomsday scenarios is appealing to me.

I think Ive become jaded on viruses...Have fun with your sanitizer,water and toilet paper.

We don't have hoarders here in North and all stores are always full.

We have bum washers so we don't need toilet paper and we drink tap water. ;)

According to American Mosquito Control Association, the little bastards kill 1 million a year and infect 300-500m with just malaria. They'll kill us if humanity doesn't nuke itself to ashes first

I'm more concerned with sicknesses that kill everyone, not just old people with preexisting conditions
