What do you think? Do your emotions affect your ideation the most? Are you the most suicidal when you are deeply upset? Is the thought process more emotional or rational?

Personally, I believe it can be both. I think intensely negative emotional experiences likely initiate ideation to begin with. Do you suppose there always has to be an initial period of unhappiness to initiate ideation? Was there in your case?

Still- I would argue that the realisation that CTB is a viable option can often be a rational one. I think the majority of people aren't just acting off of how dreadful they feel in that moment. They are likely looking back and forward in their life and wondering if they can get themselves out of the mess they are in. If the answer is 'no', it's surely obvious that CTB becomes something they will consider. There forward- it's always there as an option. So- it doesn't even need to be an intensely emotional state that brings up those thoughts. That's my experience anyhow. What do you think?

I think so. Here's how to completely eradicate your suicidality.

1. Think about the reasons you're suicidal.
2. Stop caring about them.

It's that simple. The lives of most people are shit, for a significant portion of them it's shittier than ours, but they never let it influence them to a point where they actually consider suicide and just play the cards they have been dealt and enjoy life regardless. Not saying that it's a choice though, I think suicidality and how emotional you are are determined by your genetics.

Suicide is initiated by emotions but the final decision or the conviction to it it logic.

In my opinion, the answer oscillates between "initiated by opinions and driven by logic" and "driven by both logic and emotions". As someone who is diagonosed anti-social, I don't really feel emotions but I sometimes think of ending my life because of crippling boredom. As a matter of fact, boredom is an emotion. So boredom initiated my suicidal thoughts and logic drives it by finding suitable methods.

It depends. Some people commit suicide on a whim when the momentary emotional or physical pain is too much to bear. I'm sure you've heard of this kind of impulsive suicides before, and I'd speculate that most suicides are commited this way.

Some people, like many of us on this forum, carefully plan their suicide and end things logically. This is not to say that we're completely immune to impulsive suicide attempts; I believe some of you can confirm it from personal experience. There have been times when I was emotionally overwhelmed and ready to jump off any tall enough building around me. What stopped me from attempting suicide at those times was inaccessibility of such buildings, but I digress.

My wish to die is certainly a completely logical response to being aware of how existence isn't worth enduring, suicide means relief and prevention of suffering in an existence that was completely futile and unnecessary in the first place.

Existence is something that is objectively hellish as nobody can deny that existence is so harmful and that there is endless possibilities to suffer in existence so from that point of view suicide can certainly seem like a very logical thing to wish for as I'm just waiting around for death anyway, with suffering, decay and loss being inevitable.

But of course my wish to die is linked to emotions as well as making logical sense as I see existence as being something dreadful and unappealing. It's tiresome having to exist and I see no value in suffering so unnecessarily just to slowly be tortured by old age.

My suicidal ideation is mostly emotional. Which has saved my life. You cannot plan or execute a suicide well on emotions. I have been depressed since I was 14 years old. Im 36 now. This last three years have been the worst. I lost all function. Could not even get dressed. Also this saves my life. If you cannot manage everyday tasks you cant plan suicide. Being suicidal is like a mood to me. Like being angry, it is suddenly very present and demands action

If I look at it logically, suicide makes most sense. I lost everything. Therapy does not work. Medication does not work. I suffer a lot.
