What do you think? Do your emotions affect your ideation the most? Are you the most suicidal when you are deeply upset? Is the thought process more emotional or rational?
Personally, I believe it can be both. I think intensely negative emotional experiences likely initiate ideation to begin with. Do you suppose there always has to be an initial period of unhappiness to initiate ideation? Was there in your case?
Still- I would argue that the realisation that CTB is a viable option can often be a rational one. I think the majority of people aren't just acting off of how dreadful they feel in that moment. They are likely looking back and forward in their life and wondering if they can get themselves out of the mess they are in. If the answer is 'no', it's surely obvious that CTB becomes something they will consider. There forward- it's always there as an option. So- it doesn't even need to be an intensely emotional state that brings up those thoughts. That's my experience anyhow. What do you think?
