It makes me wonder... with so many people thinking about ctb, do you think its necessarily due to a health disorder like depression?

It has been widely discussed how today's society makes people sick. How individualism makes people sick and only makes them less functional. Maybe western society can't face the fact that people are getting tired. Maybe western society need deep changes. Maybe western society cant face that life, maybe, is overrated.

I think it is large majority mental health. I think mental health exists on a spectrum. I think anyone can get here. I dont think we value the right things in the west

I think the term mental health has become a catch all one which sometimes isn't relevant to the matter it's being applied to. I hear the term low mood used instead when people challenge the suggestion they have mental health issues and it's just another term which indicates a lack of respect for peoples ability to guage their own issues. It's quite ignorant and patronising. But what I'm driving at is that many people that are sad, depressed or in despair is not a true indicator of mental health. They're not sick. They haven't come down with an illness. Don't get me wrong, some probably do have some imbalances in brain chemistry but how do you differentiate between those people and the ones that are experiwncing a natural response the stimuli of the world around them just by sitting across from them at a desk for 10mins? Do they require their brain chemistry being manipulated if they're not experiencing sadbess due to pathology? I argue they don't. In fact I think it's doing just that which causes many to commit suicide as a result of further complication they may have otherwise not experienced. However they are chalked up as deaths due to MH because our medical community is so ignorant and arrogant as to do so with little to no culpability.

Mental health issues are no doubt real and attribute to many suicides but I'm of the opinion that they're massively over diagnosed, over medication and irresponsibly so. In fact I'd go as far as to say that even those with genuine mental health diagnosis are prescribed meds in a very haphazard manner that in my eyes constitutes recklessness. What's terrifying is that challenging this matter causes you to be pushed further into the system and makes matters worse. You aren't heard or given any benefit of doubt. It's assault and abuse hidden under the banner of care and protection.

So I don't think it's really possible to reliably guage the majority reason for suicides. My guess would be that there's a significant portion of suicides resulting from the challenges of old age and sickness. Some of these go unnoticed or documented incorrectly. Such is the world we live in.

The data is unreliable.

Much like the way history is written by the victors.....your medical hystory can be opinion based and one side of a two sided story. This isn't recognised and once its on your medical records its considered fact. Given that health is essentially the most important thing we have this should be treated with much more measure and precision!

My reason to ctb is because physical pain is depressing, but I'm told the problem are my feelings & personality.

Society of psychopaths. I want out

Food is toxic. Overworked. Lonely... Everyone is... They want quick junk quick sex but miserable without real nutrition & connection

Quality over quantity

Overpopulated... Misery

Sorry for your pain. Feel lonely as well and depressed. cannot get satisfaction from sex as well in a long time.

I am starting to think that the problems are us. The other seem to get along well, nice lives, happy, friends. Instread I suffer, maybe I am the broken and damaged one.

It's impossible to know what is the most common reason for people to ctb as those who have left this world cannot tell us why they wanted to leave. I do believe that often for someone to ctb they have many reasons which brings them to that point, it isn't so simple as it just being one cause.

I personally believe that most people ctb as they don't see life as being worth living and this could be for a variety of reasons, in fact there are unlimited amount of things in this world that could make someone want to die. What if depression is just seeing life for what it really is. If one recognises that life itself is really the problem, then how could they want to stay here. At least I could never want to exist. Being brought into this world really is the worst possible thing.

A lot has already been said about the various reasons for a potential increase in people ending their lives, but in summary, you could say that the core issues today are a lack of life meaning, loneliness, and physical and financial issues. Those root problems have a root cause, as well, though, since none of those problems would exist - from a human perspective - if humans didn't exist, which means that we will continue to perpetuate all of those problems for as long as we keep reproducing.

Sure, life has its ups and downs, but it's not worth it to endure for about 90 years if the bad things in life are like a really big cake of cow dung, and the few good things in life are just tiny sprinkles of fun and excitement. That's a shit cake that I would prefer not to start eating at all :smiling:

I'm voting for that it's time for the world to end, but in an as gentle way as possible.

It's probably the most over simplistic and juvenile theory you can imagine, but it's how I see it.

Imagine taking a million people to go and do something. See a movie. Go to a concert. See a wonder of the world. Do fucking anything. Do you really expect the whole million people to enjoy it every time? And want to do it again? And again? There's numerically guaranteed a chance that a number of people would hate it, never want to do it again, all that.

Sure the counter to this argument is that life itself contains the variables for you to want to go out and different things, find new experiences and find what works for you. But what if you just don't like life itself? Especially being born into a system where you must work or die. Particularly in a world where suffering, illness, etc exists. Being born into a world where you have no say in the matter and be told "Go enjoy this because you have no other choice!".

Numerically speaking, there will obviously be people who fucking hate all of this. The sad reality is, we're shoved to the sidelines and told not to talk about it. Fuck them for telling us so.

So to me, suicide is just a fact of life. Exacerbated by factors such as capitalism and poor life conditions in the world.
