I feel really guilty watching these videos, even if the person recorded it on purpose. Often times you can see the live feed of comments on them, and it's full of people who really just don't care. They joke about it, insult the person, even encourage them. I feel like I'm somehow connected to these awful people when I watch these videos, even though I'm not doing it for sick entertainment.

I've seen videos on gore websites where people commit suicide by hanging, drowning, stabbing, shooting or setting themselves on fire. Many videos. But what I noticed was that they didn't look scared. They had no emotions, just accepting everything and going out. Why do I watch those vids? Because I need to know what happens in reality vs what people say on the internet. I must admit, there's too many factors making it a different experience for every other person. So don't take the videos as an example to expect the same result. I watched them just to understand what we will feel during our last decision. And i'm ready.

I don't think I could stomach it, not that the act itself would disturb me but my anger would intensify tenfold if I watched people doing all sorts of dangerous things to themselves just because society gatekeeps a peaceful death from them. And I'm already on the edge.
Just curious...is that you in profile picture?

It's not something I enjoy doing, as I do not take pleasure in other people's pain and suffering, but if I have to, I will.

In a certain website (i don't know if we can name such websites here?), there are a lot of suicide videos posted. Usually i hate watching gore, but suicide videos are an exception. Seeing these people having the courage to do it gives me courage too. Their facial expression before dying is very interesting, they seem confident, relieved, in peace. I wish there was drowning suicide videos but i've never found one yet.
I view it as them paying it forward. They are passing but letting us see how it works. A gift from them to you.

No, I don't. I find the idea pretty repugnant tbh. Gen Z seems to be huge on it though, so maybe there's a generational thing at play

when I wanted to jump from 180ft a month ago, I watched a lot of videos where people jumped and studied what they were doing wrong if they survived, and in general it was not a bad experience for me. From those videos and with the help of this site, I now know how to make the right jump from a height so that ctb is successful

Y'know, it's funny. I can't watch any of the other categories on that site, as they're often very slow, painful ways to die. But Suicide? Somehow I'm able to decouple myself from the person's situation, suppress my empathy, and look at the action occurring in a clinical manner.

I suppose it's because I spent a month binging suicide lit, the last time I frequented this site. Something about reading probabilities between permanent injury and death in Stone's Suicide and Attempted Suicide is quite sobering.

In cases where it's ambiguous, I'm very hopeful they succeeded in their attempt.
Do you have a link to ddl Suicide and Attempted suicide? Thks

I have watched some to understand what will happen to me at that juncture in my life. I did learn that it's much faster than I ever expected, and has given me the courage to continue to use this as my chosen method to CTB.

I'd probably agree to be streamed in that context or easily encouraged.

Not at all. Most seem not peaceful at all but we're often deeply distressed and I hate seeing people having to go through that in their last moments.

I have no desire to watch other people die. I've witnessed 2 people die to which I had emotional attachment and it was excruciatingly difficult to see. Even if I had no attachment to someone, I wouldn't want to see it again. I can't fathom the purpose it would serve. I'm pro-choice, not anti-life, if that makes any sense.

I used to watch regular gore, but never suicide videos aside from like Ronnie mcnutt. I cant bring myself to see that. The people suffer so much mentally. Its even worse for me. Regular gore is usually an accident or somebody else taking their life. But seeing a person torn apart because of their own desire to die is heartbreaking.

Yes, for the same reasons that you do. Especially though the fact that I know that their pain is finally over. Whatever is causing them to do this, they're finally getting peace.
My favourite is the Shuaiby video, personally.

Watched Ronnie McNutt's suicide video and it was heartbreaking. Apparently he had PTSD and depression. Fuck mental illness.

The Shuaiby video is with a shotgun, so it may not be up your alley. Personally I like it due to the fact that the person in the video is my age, was in the same sort of communities as me and the final part of the video. When he's about to do it, he just stares into space for a couple of seconds, and... I feel he was thinking "It's finally over...". Maybe that's just me though.

I've only watched jumping videos to observe the technique. However, i have 100% become desensitized to physical pain in videos. Shit that would terrify me in the past, no longer has an impact.

I want to be sorta more prepared than I was with my previous attempts.

I'm the same way. I don't like watching it, but I have come across them. I unfortunately went through a phase when I was in an awful place mentally when I guess I liked watching them in some morbid way?

Now I'm better and I abhor videos like that.
