What type of depression affects you primarily?

What type of depression do you have? I am not sure if this has been brought up before, sorry if it has. I see only two types; Habitual and Situational depression. It is possible and the most likely to have a mix of both, with one being more dominant.

Habitual being depressed for reasons your mind can't control like character, personality and ways of thinking; this can branch out to lifestyle and how you tend to lead it naturally too.
Situational being stuck in an unfavourable situation like pain, illness, poverty, loneliness et cetera, being controlled by someone else or having to be responsible for people unwillingly.

By different metrics, one is worse than the other. Habitual means a stuck stubborn rotten brain that is incapable of changing positively and has a natural tendency to lead the body in a problematic lifestyle, you can have everything and feel unsatisfied.
Situational can be worse too as some diseases and pain cannot be cured, money doesn't fall from the sky, you can't make yourself taller or shorter or less ugly, neglecting certain responsibilities can make life a more scorching hell.

For those of you who have depression? I feel mine is 70% habitual because I have an amazing life, loving parents, friends and almost every physical object I could ever ask for. So I am living the 'high life' i guess but still feel miserable on an hourly basis. I don't have illnesses. I don't have pain. I don't have trauma. 30% situational because of where I live, how my parents treat me, and other petty reasons.

Since my life is so good, improvements in my life will be impossible. Recovery from depression impossible too no matter how much more money I acquire or objects given to me. I am too irresponsible to handle more social connections so throw romantic relationship out of the window. I have driven to the end of the road at a young age already.

I made this thread because I feel guilty and lonely for having a perfect life and wonder if there are any others feeling similarly while also having the "preferable living conditions".

80% situational, although some of the things about my "situation" that make me miserable are so ingrained in my personhood or such broad unalterable facets of the world I'm living in that the line is really blurred and many would probably argue that my inability to "come to terms" with these things constitutes more of a habitual depression.

Still, I can just barely imagine being happy, if only XYZ. . . and I get yearning glimmers, although there are vanishingly few attainable goals.

Mostly situational however I'm not really sure. I assume I'm depressed because of situations out of my control, but it could be habitual and I have no way to find out. I've been stuck in this situation for my whole life and I don't see my situation improving anytime soon.

I've always had a tendency to be "down", look at the realism in things. When I was 8 the teacher actually mentioned to my parents that I should smile more. Course she couldn't see what home was like—not that it was that bad. Bottom line it didn't matter what the environment was doing I had episodal issues, always have had. So I too felt guilty, and minimized. Urgh…

My depression is situational from the way you described it. I was perfectly happy, then had an event happen that changed my life.

I am too irresponsible to handle more social connections so throw romantic relationship out of the window. I have driven to the end of the road at a young age already.
Mate my advice to you. I was in the same situation. Had everything I wanted. If things can't get better, they can get worse and waaay worse. And then you're really gonna be stuck in some s*it that just gonna make you wanna die like I am. Try to find meaning and perspective on your situation, this forum is a good start. Enjoy small things that make you happy. I guess be grateful and sorry that you're suffering from depression.

Mine appears to be seasonal. I can't bear autumn and winter and it sends me into hibernation mode which just makes everything worse. Having said that, it's more complicated than that, because I do have actual reasons for being depressed and anxious such as a volatile relationship and living in relative poverty and being useless in society, as I perceive it. I've felt much better this week due to spring being in the air. It's hard for me to grasp how the weather can affect mood so much, but I know I'm hypersensitive to everything.

This is exactly what I worry, if everything is perfect and I feel like this how horrible it will be when something big actually happens.. I don't even want to live anymore longer to experience it.

That's called a self-fulfilling prophecy. At least currently you know where you at. I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything. Maybe if it is as good as it gets, try to go on and have a plan b if things go wrong. It's your life, people give me shitty generic advice too, hehe.
