  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I had enough of this kind of stuff being raised on the internet as a kid, viewing 4chan and bestgore daily as a preteen just to feel something and out of morbid curiosity. Gore and videos of that nature are something I'm more likely to consciously avoid nowadays.

I did a long time ago, mainly when SS and WPD were on reddit. Haven't been to the site since it's early days. At least when it was on reddit it was somewhat moderated. But the comments on the website are vitriolic at best and psychopathic at worst.

I cannot possibly imagine watching something like that. I can't even look at the frozen bodies on Everest without getting a chill down my spine. As far as I'm concerned, the appearance of my death stops being my problem once I'm dead. I like living in my comfy bubble lol

Initially for research when I was deciding on my ctb method. I still remember every bit of the first hanging video I saw on there so not good. Since then I rarely do but when I do I look at the worst ones and I think it's a form of self harm since I also feel like cutting when I'm in those headspaces. It sickens me now when I watch any of the videos and I feel very guilty and aware that they are real people in real mental and physical agony, and when I go there it adds to my self-loathing. I wish I'd never found the site. I wish it was shut down. How harmful must it be for kids of any age to be exposed to that stuff? And their parents are worried about video games???

I've been to the page twice and watched a handful of suicides on there. I am disturbed. Most didn't phase me, but a few are still living rent free in my brain and wish they weren't. They were awful. Particularly the anoxic seizures during hangings are the ones that disturbed me the most, considering full suspension is my method of choice.

I understand that this happens when you hang, but I don't feel the need to watch it. It was too much for me. I've been curious to go back, but I won't. I don't like the way I felt when I watched people die.

The UK wants to ban websites they don't like? Really!?!?! I would have never guessed. Its almost like the UK is rapidly becoming a dystopian surveillance state that wants to use its size and power to regulate what is and isn't allowed online...
It's a bit exaggerated. I live in the UK and it's far from a 'dystopian surveillance state'. It's pretty liberal and you have a lot of rights.

It obviously has a lot of its own problems but a lack of freedom definitely isn't one.

The media just spins that narrative because it sells.

I grew up watching orgrish and seeing others watch porn on websites in cafes. Yes, I'm that old. 😄

From a developmental point of view, it f*cks you up even more than you are already. These things shouldn't be allowed. It is true that you get to see reality, but just like there's a minimum age for drinking, there should be for these websites (better prevention).
