Discussion Do you browse WPD?

AKA: watchpeopledie.tv. I find it is quite common among depressed or suicidal people (including me) to watch graphic videos depicting death and suicide and stuff of that nature. Back in the day I browsed the WPD subreddit before it was banned. Nowadays I try to avoid that kind of content because it's just mental self harm in my opinion. Sometimes I get curious though and can't help myself.

While most of the videos themselves didn't disturb me too much, it was the comments.

This thread inspired me to make this poll because this forum is the only place I have regularly seen WPD mentioned before.

If at all sexual then jacking off comments
making fun of the method (quite apparent with the rat poison one)

It's about what you'd expect from a mostly unmoderated comment section full of 15 year old boys. I was an edgy kid once too. Probably not to the extent of the kids on that site but still.

I have only looked at it if a link from here or someone from here had given me a link to a successful suicide which I would then look into to better understand what using that method would look and be like and how I could use method myself. I don't feel anything negative from watching most of the suicides as I don't view death as a negative thing as I am glad their suffering is finally over. I however don't like looking at gory deaths or ones that have quite a bit of blood in them as I am quite squeamish so I avoid those ones. I have only looked at one of those gory deaths and that was really really distressing to me.

I've been to the page twice and watched a handful of suicides on there. I am disturbed. Most didn't phase me, but a few are still living rent free in my brain and wish they weren't. They were awful. Particularly the anoxic seizures during hangings are the ones that disturbed me the most, considering full suspension is my method of choice.

I understand that this happens when you hang, but I don't feel the need to watch it. It was too much for me. I've been curious to go back, but I won't. I don't like the way I felt when I watched people die.

Sometimes I go on the site to watch videos of the 'method' I chose. Maybe by 'getting familiar' with it, so it doesn't seem so overwhelming anymore.

It's sad too, they are real people like us, looking for a way to find peace. The comments from people making fun of the situation are the worst, they should ban making comments there.

I tried to visit that site once out of my own curiosity and it wouldn't load for me. Tbh I think that was a blessing in disguise as I really don't need to see that sort of stuff. It likely would have been too much for me to handle.

And the comments crushed my faith in humanity more, similar to baby monkey torture snuff telegran group comments
Now i want to ctb but also dream if forcing ctb on that monkey torturer and some of those commenters lol. (obvs not seriously. But it relieves my anger for humans desensitization and sadism)

Hmm...I guess it was kinda both for me? I spent most of my time looking at suicide videos because unsurprisingly, I am interested in suicide. But, sometimes I watched the other stuff for the sole purpose of its shock value. I guess it was kinda nice in a messed up way fulfilling my curiosity and that watching the videos made me feel something other than emptiness. Not sure if I would call it a positive or negative emotion though. The community there is very ugly but sometimes I get a laugh out of it purely how stupid or edgy the stuff people say there is. Like at least 75% of the people that comment there must be under 15 years old lol.

I'm not sure how all those videos end up on that page.. if they are stolen or leaked from authorities.

But the fact that they considered filming themselves before CTB.. I guess they somehow wanted to "be seen" by others or someone in particular.

I watch it all the time because i think death is beautiful and is the only thing I seek right now. I am so jealous of the people who end themselves successfully. I am so numb that I even enjoy the racist comments that are targeted at my race(Indian).

Just the suicide ones . The ones where they jump off high buildings fascinate me. Takes a lot of courage but the pain is over so quick. The hanging ones are creepy. The shooting ones seem so quick and painless

I used to, but not anymore. I go on it occasionally, not to watch gore content but to see if any changes to the site have been made or to report propaganda content. I discovered it around a year ago and became active on it around mid-2024. But my morals regarding consuming gore content have changed since then. I think it is disrespectful to post videos of people dying online without their consent. Imagine if one of your family member's death is posted on a gore site for many people to mock and watch. I wouldn't be too happy.

Yes, I visit a few times a week. I have been fascinated with death for a few years now. I visit Medical Examiner datasets and comb through them. I'm not a psycho, just suicidal, I promise. Most of the comments there are pretty awful though.

i just watch the suicide ones, it makes me jealous but it is also cathartic in a sense, like "that will be me soon, things aren't so bad i just have to hold out a bit more" kinda thing
