Discussion Do you believe in an afterlife?

I'm just curious, due to the nature of this site, how many of you believe there may be something after this life

I do not. I can't imagine existing outside of this place, it feels like people are very physical beings (mood dependent on brain chemistry etc.). Even if there were an afterlife, without the physical side of things, I don't think it would be me existing there.

No, I could never do, I only believe death to be the peace of non-existence where this deeply undesirable, cruel and torturous existence is finally all forgotten and no matter what I'll just always prefer to not exist than suffer in this dreadful existence that only ever causes harm and suffering.

To me existence is just always an abomination and I just always suffer so much as a result of the mistake of existence, for me non-existence is all that's positive, only in non-existence will I be at peace from the suffering, cruelty and torture of this painful existence where there is no limit as to how much agony one can feel. For me every second is torture to be conscious, I'd never wish for the torture of existing and this existence of suffering all for the sake of it should never had been imposed, all I want is to erase this terrible, cruel existence.

To me since every possibility is possible, I just assume the best for any afterlife and that all problems will stop existing in whichever afterlife ends up happening. Either I will stop existing or live an infinitely better fantasy. I definitely wouldn't impose my views on other people because it's just a cope anyway.

if it counts, i believe in reincarnation. a life after death yes, but not necessarily and afterlife. moreso just a continuation of life.

Realistically, I know there's probably nothing. There is a party of me that hopes I can reincarnate into a better life with better people.

I believe there is an afterlife, There's spiritual nature of ourselves that is higher than just existence of flesh associated with this mortal realm.

I do. I think that the observer (the self) cannot be contained in the world, in the same way that the visual field cannot contain the eye. I believe the brain is an organ that transmits consciousness, rather than one that produces this. Reading william james helped make this clear for me

I don't think there is an a aftelife waiting for us,although I don't feel like pushing down people who believe in it. After the brain starts working how would it be possible to experience anything? I have a materialistic and scientific outlook on this matter but who knows, you can never be 100% sure on things,especially on this scale
