By chemicals, I don't necessarily mean dangerous things like some types of drugs though of course these things count too. I'm more so referring to things, beyond basic food and drinks, that are used to help somebody get through tasks. For example, an energy drink would count here. I honestly don't know why but, when I go to university, I see a lot of people holding coffee drinks. I see coffee drinks everywhere and I wonder why they have them. Do people rely on them to get through studies? What about alcohol... do people drink that to cope through life better?

Is there really anybody out there who just goes through life without relying on any chemicals that enhance performance and so on? I'm doing that and it's so painful and difficult. I wonder if my life would be different if I had access to the same chemicals that people do though of course I don't because I have controlling parents

I rely on caffeine to get through life. I can't function without it. I think that most people drink alcohol to cope through life better. When I hung out with my crush, he drank like 5 beers. I think alcohol is a downer, so it allows one to be more relaxed and less anxious and inhibited. Social drinkers are also a thing. Drinking is a big part of cultures all around the world so some people drink to fit in.

I think that American culture encourages drug and alcohol use. Life in plastic is *not* fantastic. Most normies are pill-popping; they use nicotine, cocaine or amphetamines to get through the day and then alcohol to come down. That's how they cope with being wageslaves for the rest of their lives. Life is so empty and unfulfilling so they turn to drugs and alcohol to satisfy the void in their souls. They want to run away from the emptiness that they feel inside.

What's your main source of caffeine? How much of it do you consume per day or per week?

I used to drink coffee a lot personally. It was because of the kind of job I had at the time. I'd work 12 hours everyday and had to use something, anything, that would keep me awake. It was awful, truth be told.

At least you didn't do cocaine or something. I heard they use coke on Wall Street

Yeah, I don't think I'll ever do coke. My experience with those kinds of drugs is only limited to pot, but I didn't like it.

Sugar, basically.

For example, I like energy drinks, but I don't drink them for energy. I only drink them for the taste.
However, not much lately, because I'm simply bored with them.

Sugar is in many things, so it is a very simple stimulant.

I don't like the smell of pot. It smells rancid. I've never had any experience with those kinds of drugs, and never will. The weird thing is that once my Ortho-K doctor (a special kind of contact lenses) told my mom that I should smoke pot. Maybe he could tell that I had Asperger's…

I don't like the way it smells either. I am curious about having a more psychedelic experience than what I had, like with shrooms, but I'm making a choice to avoid drugs for various reasons. Plus, it might be worse than my experience with weed, which was pretty awful.

How effective do you think sugar has been for you in performing tasks and all?

I want to try cocaine for fun but I don't want to fuck up my nose. Btw, pot is weed right?

I misunderstood a bit.
For me, sugar helps with "relaxation", not necessarily with productivity

No, don't worry, you didn't misunderstood. I think I was just vague. I meant anything that helps one in life in any way (which includes relaxation too)

I can't live with or without chemicals.
Even if I consume any type of food or medication, I'm not able to feel well enough to keep living.

Stimulants usually lift my mood for 2 hours, but after those 2 hours, I return to the hole I was in.

I don't want to talk about food. My diet is almost just a pile of bread with water...

What kind of stimulants?
Methylphenidate and caffeine.

Both of them lift my mood, but only for a while, and after a few hours, I start to have anxiety attacks.
I also want to mention that stimulants make me tremble, so it's hard for me to write or hold anything.

I'd say the majority of people rely on something or other to get them through. I know very few people who eat and drink healthily all the time.

I started a new job role this week. I had training on day 1 and basically bought 7 bottles of Pepsi max to get through the week. What more can I say - it will help me function this week.

i'm on anti-depressants that make me drowsy (and have always had trouble getting out of bed + with executive function). i'm less erratic on them, i think? but then again i'm making plans to ctb, so i'm not sure they're helping. anyway.

i feel more lively and driven to actually accomplish things when i'm caffeinated. i worked retail full time up until last month and i usually had 2-3 sugary coffees or energy drinks per day. otherwise i hated everyone - wanted to lock myself in a storage closet and cry. i'm also very prone to seeking short-term dopamine: impulse shopping, porn, junk food, drinking, you name it.

so, to answer your question, i absolutely rely on chemicals as momentary distractions. no matter what, i always come back to the baseline though.

yes, I rely on caffeine, nicotine, delta-9, and alcohol to get my through most days. but I don't do too much to be fucked up throughout the whole day, just enough to be able to manage

I find it so ironic how pro-lifers try to convince us that life is great and there's so much to experience when they can't even get through the day without drinking. Literally had one suggest that I try either drugs or alcohol instead of CTBing.

I think that the people who rely on things like this and say they aren't coping are actually coping twice as hard by being in denial. Though I think that anybody who says they aren't coping are actually coping more as everybody copes with life in some way
