You know can we might choose a name for this forum with less negative connotations? Maybe "Super duper no fun, unalive forum"?

When the forum was down I searched for the X account of Sanctioned Suicide. I don't follow it. I searched for Sanctioned Suicide on X. And it showed to me some videos where people committed suicide. This was sort of traumatizing. But I only skimmed it. There was a soldier in the Russia-Ukraine war that blew himself up. And some other disturing suicide videos. I have morbid curiousity but I am so glad for my mental health that I quit the habit of watching gore. I can only recommend to stop doig that. It is poisonous.

Eventually, I found the account of this forum. But there was no new message. But I thought maybe I can use this anecdote to start a thread.

What? There is nothing negative about the name of the forum. Quite the opposite: it means acceptance, it means understanding.

What you saw on X, well, it's X, what do you expect!?

im glad you quit the habit, i remember doing similar when i was younger, and also it sucks the search function everywhere is nearing non functional. this forum is condemned by media and most people, yet they fail to understand theres a million other places, including mainstream social media which is more than happy to present you gore, and is OK with users bullying you telling you to KYS or encourage SH. sorry, i get this isnt the topic of your discussion, but i think part of it comes from how unmoderated twitter is as well. i can see how a name change solves the immediate problem, but i wonder what other consequences there would be.

I'm sorry you had to see that. Most likely, it's someone/people attention seeking using the forum's tag.

i dont understand how seeing gore can be negative to people if you desire death, it seems like detachment from reality

Most people are naturally disturbed by the sight of other human beings dying, it has nothing to do with your feelings about life.

why would it be disturbing seeing a stranger die when it will happen to everyone? i understand sympathy but being traumatized over it?

I guess it depends on how said person dies. Seeing them dying in suffering hits different then seeing them dying peacefully.

because many are both scared and grossed out by certain forms of death.

From what I've seen across the web:
a SH CTB attempt (idk if it was eventually fatal or not) was nasty to watch, while golden gate footage and even some other moderately gory CTB didn't have the same repulsion effect.

I don't think it's a rational thing. And I didn't say "traumatizing". I might be projecting my feelings onto other people though.
Sorry if I sound harsh, that's not my intention.

Here's another reason: They are hurting. Some of us care about other people, other animals and plants. We feel pain when they feel pain.

caring about them is ubiquitous even among people who see such things all the time, but being negatively affected by sights of death is just detrimental to life.
