Has anyone discovered a passion later in life? I feel like most people that are passionate about things already have it when they're kids, not as adults. I have friends that are passionate about music, art, sports,... I can definetely enjoy these things from time to time, but it's not like I4d actively want to pour hours and hours into it.
This is also why I can't stick with any hobbies. I try something out for a couple months, get bored and look for something else. Sometimes I think I should stick with it longer, but if it's really unenjoyable for me, should I? I'm envious of people who seem so enamoured with something that to me couldn't be more bland and uninspiring.

Yes. I developed an interest in birds, flowers, and trees recently.

I'd love to follow this new "ecological passion" by getting a job in agroecology or even as a "tree doctor", but physically am limited right now.

Well, that and I don't have the money for the training yet.

Yea I started drumming at 38 not sure if that's late enough to count. But it's really easy you just need a little drum pad, some sticks and some books. It's a lot of fun.

100% possible. I hated math as a child, and now it's become somewhat of an obsession. I also like a bunch of sciences, even if my knowledge is surface-level -- meteorology, physics, astrophysics, chemistry, etc.. The hardest part to developing a hobby is always getting started.

I sorta want to get into hardware engineering, no idea where the heck to start though, or whether or not I can even financially do it (engineering programs are expensive af)

Same bro. I can't all in on anything at all. I'm always in between things.

I see. But I can't quite see that as a 'passion' yet, since it's so fresh. I can get reasonable excited about things to for a while. Just not years upon years.

Interesting. That definetely counts. I actually tried to learn the piano a couple years ago, but got bored of that too. I feel like it's just repeating a song over and over again until it's muscle memory. But often that takes dozens or even hundreds of attempts and I just get bored.

You think so? The hard part for me is sticking with it. Or maybe after a couple months still counts as getting started for you. It's basically when the novely wears off, I'm not ultra bad at it anymore, bad but enough compared to most other people who do it as a hobby aswell.

No idea how people do that bro. There's probably some stuff on youtube, but the problem with that is that there's always so much bad information or information that isn't relevant to what you're looking for. That shit would demotivate me already to get into it.
