Dimorphous expression : when your external actions don't match what you're feeling inside.

One form is 'cute aggression' , where for example one sees a baby and "it's so cute, I just want to squeeze it" or " I could just eat you alive "
Another form is where cute things/happy things make you sad, even cry.

I'm wondering how common this is, or am I just insane?
What is something that makes you cry that shouldn't?

For me, one of the MANY triggers are kittens. What about you?

From a biological perspective, cuteness represents something resembling human babies in some form. We are programmed to want to nurture them. Note that even in adult human sexuality, the 'baby face' is generally considered the most attractive. I notice it's exploited in anime with the oversized eyes thing, and cars like the Mini. I think the following is intended as humour but sort of gets the point across:

Sifting through subconscious psychology, the triggering aspect of the situation - be it a tendency towards aggression, a sense of envy or sadness - likely represents a desire to return to the innocence and wonderment of early childhood, and a sorrow for the heavy layers of conditioning that have been added since. There is actually a way to achieve that (spiritual awakening) but it is easier said than done for most people.
