Did you want CTB because of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube...?

This is a situation that could push me to CTB! I really blame Facebook, I came across "Here are some groups you might know." on the Facebook home page.

I had the misfortune of asking to join a group, related to a country that I know, and that I found its photos magnificent, and I just wanted to join this group, and I did not interact with this group, for respect.

From one day to the next, I found myself banned from the group, for no reason! I did nothing against this group, I had the misfortune of joining a group suggested by Facebook.

I am sure that Facebook, like all internet giants, is responsible for many CTBs, for the contempt of users, spam, scams, harassment, humiliation, and also the absence of support, help, ease of blocking his neighbor without reasons!

Why is there no recourse against these unfair bans, why are there no international laws against these blocks and discrimination?

The early Internet, when there were small forums, blogs, small websites, etc., which were local, moderated by humans, where it was easy to contact them, no longer exists.

Now the internet is just Facebook, Google, YouTube, X, Twitch, Amazon, Microsoft, TikTok, as if the entire planet is governed by this small group of multinationals, including freedom of expression. Welcome to 1984 by Groorge Orwell!

Sometimes I want to ctb when I see people on Instagram having the time of their lives. I know it's all artificial and fake, but I have to say it makes me green with envy. It also makes me both mad and sad. I saw a quote by Slavoj Zizek: "What makes me depressed? Seeing stupid people happy."

Stay away from those social media sites they are fake and toxic and will only make your mental health worse. I think suicide rates have gone up cause of social media

I suffer from social media addiction, and yes, it's messed up my life and has contributed a lot to my suicidal ideation. I am an earlier example of why social media addiction and parasocial relationships are so damaging for young people, because I was going through that before it was even talked about at large, like back in the 00s. I was also exposed to things that I was really too young to see.

Parents, please, I beg you, don't give your children unrestricted internet access, it can scar them for life.

It's part of the problem. They made my city and my life even worse. If i thought i could escape hell somehow, now i certainly know that i can't.

I haven't really used any social media aside from reddit but even then I don't use that often (of course I'm not counting youtube as a social media platform as all I use it for is to watch videos). Though, if I were to use other types of social media, I doubt it'd make me feel more suicidal than I already am as I'd probably just get bored quickly and leave the social media

I deleted or put into hibernation my social media accounts. I don't think they were doing me any good. I'm sorry you had this experience and I agree- I think social media has played a big part in screwing up people's mental well being.

Here's the rest, with a second Facebook account, I asked the admins and mods why they banned me, that I didn't interact with this group, just asked to join it, and that it was suggested by facebook, in the news feed! I told them I sent a private message from the banned account.

In response to this, the other account was directly banned too, with no answers!

As a result I just blocked all the admins and mods in this group, which I found with a third account, which did not interact with this group. I blocked around twenty, all of them, with these two accounts.

I advise you to have 2 or 3 accounts with the internet giants, in case you find yourself in the fait accompli of being banned for no reason or for unfair reasons! These other accounts will allow you to recover proof of your innocence, continue to see what these groups, pages publish... This is the only solution to this behavior worthy of the dictatorship where a lord had full powers.

It is practically impossible to live without having a Facebook (Meta), Instagram (Meta) WhatsApp (Meta), Amazon, Twitch, X (ex Twitter) Google account. Reddit, GitHub (Microsoft), LinkedIn (Microsoft).. because everything is done on the internet, applications, with no alternative such as telephone, mail, meetings on site, in store, etc.

Any competition to win a gift from a merchant can only be done on Instagram or Facebook. It is increasingly difficult to contact technical support, after-sales service, legal service, ask for help, provide an opinion, without going through the internet giants.

Like the fact that everyone uses Windows or Apple, without thinking about Linux. Not everyone uses Linux (except Android, a Linux bought by Google), because there are almost no applications or compatible software and computer manufacturers are forced to sell Windows, without offering cheaper computers running Linux (there is corruption, financial agreements; such as bonuses, royalties, for this forced sale). It's the same for Android, smartphones can run Linux very well, without Google, but it's like Windows, there are no applications.

There are companies that can only be contacted on X (Twitter), WhatsApp, or Facebook.

No, frankly, I should never have known about the 2000s, I would have known what this world would have become with computer technologies, especially the internet giants. Frankly, I am very close to CTB. I have also just suffered significant pain, impossible to relieve, because I have a genetic illness (see the other threads and posts that I have created elsewhere in SaSu).

Before falling into degrading health, a degenerative illness, I was able to be an engineer in tech, while continuing to study, until I stopped these professions and tried to study something else, like medicine. So, I know very well the extreme narcissistic mentality that there is in these professions linked to technologies, in particular the internet, artificial intelligence, advertising, it put me off these professions.

Artificial intelligences are a great threat to humanity. I am scared.

i never used social media that much in my life. in fact i feel like my suicidality is what caused me to not have any interest in sm's, it always felt useless and stupid to me

Yes definitely. Just way too much toxicity and division plus the content has gotten worse/boring/cringe. Everything has also or soon to become payware.
