I used Kingsford charcoal because that was the only premium charcoal available in my area. I found that it takes 50 minutes for around 3 pounds of it to turn completely white. I couldn't get the flame to go out though. I tried pouring them out onto a portable grill but they were still smoking I waited about 20 more minutes and they were almost completely reduced to ash but they were still smoking. If anyone has any advice on something I need to do different that would be much appreciated.
