I don't think there's reason to involve anyone. If I were that concerned about the possibility of the mail service recognizing the target location as police and triggering the premature sending of the mail, I'd do something like this:
Create two separate non-gmail email accounts, schedule an email containing an attachment with the information regarding where my body can be found from one account to the other(you can encrypt it too if you want) and one to the police with the same delay containing the login information for the target account, the one the attachment was sent to(and the key if you chose to encrypt it as well and some explanation of what they're going to find when they log in). That way, if the mail gets sent prematurely to the police, all they get is the login information for an account that doesn't contain anything yet as there's still nothing in the target location and it's all anonymous.
I'll probably just rent a hotel room though, so the hotel staff will find me eventually. That is if I ever get to the point of actually doing it.

Just wondering what reasons a person would have for notifying the police. I can see if the person lives alone and wants their body found. What other reasons? Could it protect one's spouse from being implicated in their suicide?

The three reasons I see are to prevent a loved one from finding the body (traumatic), allow a body to be found (let loved ones grieve, distribute the estate), and prevent the police from charging a loved one with assisting suicide. The books I've read (PPH, Five Last Acts) with the most detail recommend a signed, dated letter stating that this is a suicide and no one assisted you in any way, precisely so that no one gets charged for helping you die.

For me, it's that I live alone with my pets; before anyone jumps on me about that, it would be incredibly suspicious for me to rehome them myself, I am making all sorts of preparations for that, and they will be closed in the other room with everything they need. But I need my friend to be notified so they can be taken care of.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Do you know what method you are going to use?

That makes perfect sense. I have to say that as an animal lover, I love your avatar and I always smile inside when I see it. I think you are being very responsible about your pets and give you lots of kudos. Thanks for responding.

Awwww, thank you ^_^ Foxes are me in animal form x)
Thank you so much for your kind words :) I feel bad that I can't get them solid homes on my own, but I trust my friend to do it. I am writing "instruction manuals" for both of them so they can understand their behaviors and needs. Lots to type up, gotta work more on that over time. I just want to do the right thing, it just sucks that most situations are "lesser of two evils" and choosing the less bad option.

I'm the same. Live alone with 2 dogs. Won't be ctb at home. Have a partner who will find the dogs but don't want him to find me. Need a way to contact police before to make sure they find me, but not too quickly!

Instead of messaging the police, could you schedule a text message to your partner? U mention that they will take care of your pets, I'm sure they would contact the police for you. I think avoiding the police as much as possible is wise in the event that something goes wrong.

Sure, but a loved one is going to contact the police anyway, or even rush over to find the body, and that's going to be at least somewhat more painful for them than having the police show up and do a death notification. For most people who don't wish to be saved, the point of contacting emergency services is so that loved ones don't end up seeing or dealing with the dead body.

A lot of places these days have text-to-911 (or 999 or whatever the emergency services number is), so if that's an option, and one was going to send a scheduled text anyway, may as well send it to emergency services... scheduled for hours after death, of course.

If you send an email to police what would you say? Requesting a welfare check for 123 Maple Drive? How do you know the police will respond and not ignore email?

"Dead body at [location]" is pretty effective at getting a response, at least over phone or text. I'd be concerned about an email being ignores, no matter what's in it, so I wouldn't use email for this.

It would make sense to arrange an email or text to someone who won't ignore it, like a mental health or social worker, or doctor. Around here the police don't even investigate emergency calls that drop, so if there was a messaging service they'd ignore it. Send it to someone with a professional responsibility to you, who knows you are a risk to yourself. They will call the police before they call your family. Just make sure they know it's real and instruct this person to keep your family away.

In New Zealand there is a police text service for people with hearing or speech difficulties. I'm going to send a delayed text message to that service.

I was playing with later.io which was recommended but it seems to work terribly. Lots of delays and error messages. Not sure why.

Yeah, my plan is to say there's a dead body. I'm planning on ctb in a forest. Won't give exact location but general. Hoping it will take them long enough to find me.

when the day comes I'm gonna send this email to emergencies and CC the funeral home and my doc, using boomerang
the details are meant to keep the police away, in my country they only intervene if there is doubts about the death being "natural"

subject: body to recover following suicide

good morning

this is a delayed email, the facts described below took place 12h ago, so no need to rush

I commited suicide yesterday evening, could you please retrieve the body at this location
Please be as discreet as possible, I left a key under the mat so you dont have to break the door
I used 15g of Sodium Pentobarbital and therefore forbid any autopsy

in attachments my advanced directives and my funeral wishes, you'll find the same signed and dated beside my dead body

thank you

too much ?

I don't know if you're still around, but wouldn't it be safer to increase the period of delay? Just in case it might take longer than 12 hours. Maybe 24 or even 36, 48h ?

No, 12 hours is more than enough. Take a look at the statistics below (10-12g) I intend to take at least 15g. I'm pretty sure that I'll be gone in less than 20 mn.

I a not thinking about cbt now . But I really had concern about sending delayed emails . Police will not receive it beforethe time that it was scheduled but the service providers of delayed email can be sensitive to some keywords and control suspicious emails and report it to the police

Hey, uhm... where did you get those pictures from? I tried to find it a while ago but I wasn't able to. The wikibooks articles with the statistics about Nembutal disappeared. I would appreciate a response, thanks.

Hello. You can find it in a guide to a self chosen and humane death p82. Or 748 cases of suicide assisted by a Swiss right-to-die organisation
Both publications are pretty old (2007/2003) but totally accurate.

Well I tested it twice and nobody came knocking at my door :) Just don't use words as "suicide" or "death" in the subject line and you should be ok.
I wrote "Important informations about MyName" in the subject line and "see attached Word file" in the body. Everything is in the Word file.

shouldn't protonmail be being used for this? And all emails based around suicide really too. (Ie: meeting a partner ect ect).

Okay, well. But the median doesn't really say anything about statistical outliers. I mean it's your choice. I remember vaguely a documentary about N on YT where it took way longer than they expected and it was a sick man. But I'm too lazy to research rn.

25 minutes sounds great btw, I thought it usually takes longer with N.

The police 99.99999% of the time would have no way of seeing the message until the delay has passed. Delayed emails are stored on your email host's server until the date passes and then they are sent.

the only exception would be if they got tipped off and then got a warrant to get access to the mail server to get your data. Even then, it would likely be too late since that's pretty time exhausting to go from a warrant being issued to your mail provider proving the information (and even then, depending on the jurisdiction of the mail provider... they might not even have to)

I don't completely trust a delayed email because my luck it wouldn't work. Like it would go immediately or not at all or end up in their spam folder. When I ctb I'm going to schedule a text message. It's much more reliable and I've tested it so I feel good about it
How do you schedule a text message?
