So this fucking sucks because it was my method. I bought the R2D, the latest Debreather, planning to use this year. In the latest update to the Peaceful Pill Handbook, they say no one has reportedly been successful, so they are pulling it from the book.

"In early 2022, with still no confirmed reports of successful use, the decision was made to remove the Debreather Chapter from the eHandbook. The Debreather may be included in the future, but not until there are validated eyewitness reports of its successful use." (Page 135)

FUCK. FUCK. FUCK. I'm kinda freaking out right now.

Yeah it was a fat scam... sorry. Hope it didn't cost you too much.

I honestly don't think it was a scam. There were reports of successful attempts with the first one but it seems like the seal wasn't perfect and people had to help. There was even a published academic paper about the device, proving its lethality. I have emailed with the inventor. I believe him to be earnest in his attempt. This is just a hard method to engineer.

While not cheap the financial hit is not an issue. Thanks for asking though.

Yeah scam was too strong of a word ig. I know @Greenberg is big on the gas method, maybe he has more information about what went wrong.

If you still have all the equipment besides the mask why don't you just make an exit bag? It's pretty straightforward. I made one out of a good garbage bag. I find the turkey bags weird and crinkly and rip easily so I have no idea why they are recommended.

I need to look into exit bag again. You need a tank right? Worried about getting flagged buying it at welding shop or something. Maybe fear overblown.

Why would it get flagged? For what? It's not illegal. You could also try home brewery stores. That's where I got mine. Just ordered online.
did not know about home brewery stores! thanks. honestly you know what's my biggest fear is, it's ending up brain dead but alive. in all my reading i've not been able to establish the risk in that.

Yes, there was a paper that stated the Debreather was used successfully in eight out of nine cases. I wonder why they removed it then.

It always sucks to have a method removed from the PPH.
because for the new model no successful attempts have been documented and submitted to the authors. They rely on that to validate methods.

Mate, this is a fear of pretty much every method except N and probably SN. There's no way around it I'm afraid. It is a possibility but an extremely small one if well planned. I'm terrified of this too and it's the main reason I haven't seriously gone for it yet. And also why I'm making plans to combine methods. Use an exit bag and then full suspension hang. If one doesn't get me the other should, right? Might throw back some SN before all that too.
What helped me is telling people close to me how if I'm ever in a situation where I'm injured and brain damaged to not keep me alive. I didn't mention it in the context of CTB, more like...y'know, if ever a freak accident happens etc. etc. So I know the people closest to me know how strongly I feel about this. Might be worth a try?

yeah I have SN. And I am planning to meet with a lawyer to draft DNRs. I guess mixing with SN worries me bc I think i'll just get sick in the bag. But I guess that would be a quick recoverable failure....

Yeah that's why you gotta combine methods carefully so they don't interfere with each other. Hanging and exit bag seemed like a good option to me since you can't fall 'sideways' and dislodge the bag, and passing out from the nitrogen means I won't feel the pain of hanging. If I add SN to the mix I'll put it in capsules to swallow so if I am sick it doesn't kick in immediately and hopefully I'm pretty much dead anyway. Good idea about the DNR. Though I read somewhere on here that they don't honour it if the cause of you ending up in hospital is CTB. But don't quote me on that, I have no idea how true this is.

I would love to do this myself but not sure how to go about it without raising suspicion from the lawyer.

I don't think it will be something I have to go into detail but we are in a pandemic so it's pretty common request nowadays. in other words, it's my DNR. I'm of sound mind. End of story.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. I was thinking about it but I already failed with the exit bag method. I got the nitrogen tank, bag and everything. The problem was I couldn't properly regulate the pressure of the tank. It became a costly nightmare so I gave up on it. I hope you have better luck than I did.

I said on the day it was announced that this method might not be peaceful. Along with CO2 receptors, there are also O2 receptors in the brain stem. SPO2 must drop very quickly so that O2 receptors do not trigger the breathing reflex. As with the inert gas method. With Debreather, SPO2 drops slowly. So, O2 receptors have time to trigger dyspnea, increasing cardiac output. Methemoglobinemia has similar symptoms.

I bought the DeBreather too and after studying it decided to make my own. Mine has a much larger soda lime volume, no valve(s), super minimal breathing tubing, and a 12 volt micro pump that circulates a portion of the CO2 stripped air from after the soda lime canister right back up to the mask through an oxygen connector that is sold to feed oxygen into breathing tubes. This makes for basically zero dead space in the system and ensures O2 drops right away and there's barely any O2 or CO2 after just a few breaths. For the currently-sold ReBreather, IMHO the combination of too much breathing tube volume, who knows Chinese soda lime quality, and other factors led me not to use the device. I guess anyone who bought one could add on a pump or make other changes. IDK .... in the end it's whatever risk everyone feels they can bear. The basic body and filtering came from homemade DeBreather posts of previous members who appear to now be gone due to success or self banning ... who knows. I feel good about my design and will soon know for sure.

I am glad you have the smarts to make your own device like that. It's such a shame that the DeBreather does not work as intended and has been removed from the latest PPeH additions. I was following it for years and Exit put a lot of faith in it as a reliable ctb device. I don't know if anything like this will ever be made and sold in the future again because of all the problems. It should never have been sold and then re-sold with not so great updates. I guess it is not easy to test something like that (for obvious reasons). It was a great idea, that was poorly implemented. Sad, because it would have been a solid ctb option for people. Best of success with your version!

I actually brought this about a year or two ago. It's quite flimsy, so I had to duck tape over everything with strong tape. And when I say everything, I mean everything. You don't want anything to come apart whilst in use. My SI was very high with this, not sure why. However, I did succumb to it, and was drifting away within seconds or minutes, can't remember which. I was falling into unconsciousness. I had the same feeling you get when you're being put under anesthesia. But I ended up pulling it off at the last minute, because my SI was too high. My final conclusion is that, I can see this being a viable option but only if everything stays in place, including your mask. I literally had to duck tape it just to make sure it would stay in place. I looked a right state when I looked in the mirror 😂😂. But I can see this being a peaceful exit if done right.

I have only read about failures with the R2D Rebreather II and the device did not work for me, so for me R2D Rebreather II is a scam. It seems like the seller and the inventor only wanted to make money. It is very difficult to commit suicide alone. A more reliable and efficient method should be duct tape and plastic bag, but then death will not be peaceful, however, one can not get everything in life and death.

Yeah, I'm only going to try the debreather if SN doesn't work. Planning on next week. I need time to prepare. If it were easy, I'd do it tonight.

2 questions, whats sp02? inert gas method is exist bag?

SPO2 is blood oxygen saturation. The ratio of oxygenated hemoglobin to total hemoglobin. Yes exit bag is an inert gas method.

Can you imagine how popular that method would be if that device was up to scratch though? I mean it was award worthy at the time and had the full support of Exit. Now they are, rightfully, pulling it from their future book releases. Damn shame because the more reliable ctb devices the better. I hope the sarco device is a better success for the future. Nitschke wants to use AI to determine if a person is mentally sound enough to use the machine. He should hire HAL 9000 from 2001 space odyssey :pfff:
