People will always suggest self care as some sort of antidote for healing and I just giggle because that used to work. I used to be able to utilize all the feel good tools in my life, until they stopped working. Self care only works when you have the ability to still push forward but once you've hit the bottomless pit of darkness, those cutesy self care rituals are going to feel like an act, a role that you're simply just playing with zero satisfaction. For me, dying will be my self care when I'm ready to make that leap. The only self care method that brings joy to my face is the ability to finally die in a peaceful manner. Death is what shall bring me joy and happiness because this earth has become a personal hell

I suppose that's as a legit a way of looking at ctb as anything else. If one can't get the self care they need to feel better, or have tried everything in their power to get some type of self care but none is available, or none works, then I suppose the last resort is to exercise the ultimate self care and remove yourself from that which caused the need for the care in the first place.

Yes, I look at it like this too- It feels very appealing as a permanent solution to problems that never really go away.

Really irritates me when people say it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Granted, that could be the case but I think for a lot of people, to be considering suicide and in this state of mind, a fair amount of crap had lead up to it and once the thought is there, it's like a 'splinter in your mind.' (Love that line from 'The Matrix). It takes so much effort to change and I think for many people in this state of mind, it's hard to see the point.

Trouble I find is- while suicidal ideation is a comfort of sorts- a way out when I don't want to deal with life anymore. Actually going through with it is a whole other thing. I have massive anxiety about finding a peaceful, reliable method, it succeeding and any possible shitty afterlife. If only doing it was as easy as thinking about it.

In my case, the best possible thing would be to exit this world. I think that I deserve non existence, I never asked for any of this in the first place anyway, and I was perfectly fine not existing until I was forced into this life. Death takes away all of life's problems and instead of being trapped in endless suffering, there would be nothing, and nothingness is ideal. As long as someone is alive, they are capable of experiencing so much pain. I just think that it's so horrifying how life even is a thing at all.

Self-care is evangelized to increase resilience, lifespans, and ultimately maximize human servitude. Can't "serve the greater good" for decades when you're deceased. (Of course, body and organ donations contribute to life-saving transplants and important medical research, but the main point still stands.)

You know, I was thinking at some godforsaken hour of the night when I couldn't sleep.

All these people on social media share these memes about how silence kills, mental health shouldn't be stigmatised, reach out, talk about it.

So you do… and they think you've grown another head, want to get you locked up, accuse you of attention seeking or just avoid you because they don't know what to do.

Then you get spaces like this, where people actually can speak up about it and others get it, don't minimise or invalidate your feelings (which probably in itself does actually help some people to recovery, if that's their path). And the same meme sharer types want to shut it down.

mblum has N so unlike other methods she will have some happy moments between the fatal act and death. I made an attempt with pills many years ago and the time between swallowing the pills and falling asleep was euphoric.

You dont need to feel happiness once you are dead. A happy life is better than non existence, but non existence is better than an unhappy life full of pain.

That saying also completely ignores that permanent solutions are great. Temporary problem or not if there's a solution that solves it forever then that's much better than a temporary solution.
