Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

Wow I would have had mutual friends with one of the people mentioned in the article, you really never know who's using this site, huh? Maybe even people we know in real life

But anyways ugh another one of these stupid and misguided articles

When I ctb I do NOT want to be viewed as a 'victim' of this site, this site in fact has actually PROLONGED my life(damn you SS!) and also will be to thank for me having access to a far more peaceful death than I would have had otherwise had I not have had access to this information.

Our society is to blame for most ctb's but nooo let's not reflect on that and try to actually implement change that could actually help people like us and actually prevent ctb's, and blame a random website instead!:smiling:

The Dailymail needs to fuck off. This is the same newspaper that has allowed the vile bullies Piers Morgan and Katie Hopkins to write articles for the daily mail. Piers Morgan despite his obsessive harassment of Meghan markle and the frequent bullying of his guests on Good Morning Britian he frequently writes columns for the dailymail.

They have no right to start lecturing about mental health
Hypocrites
If society actually listened, helped and supported people with mental illnesses then this site or similar sites would NOT exist all.

I ended up on this site because when I told my family I was depressed and anxious NOBODY wanted to listen.

I was constantly told " be grateful" that "i am physically healthy, have a caring family, pretty and intelligent "

Or "it's going to be fine "

I told my mum the future scares me
My own mother said
" why are you scared I provide for you , you have a bed, roof, a British passport, etc"

All I wanted was people to listen to me and actually show me I can have a wonderful future but nobody wanted to listen so I wanted a community where people did listen to me so I ended up here.

When I am on here nobody judges me and I feel free . I feel like everybody actually cares and understands.

When I have reached out everybody around me just acted knew what they believed what was best for me instead of actually listening to me . I know when I reach 30 I will end my life as I don't belong in this world and my life as woman will be effectively over at 30.

I can't do it anymore I don't know where I belong and I am too weak for this world. I cant do it compete with people to get the job, be super perfect attractive woman every man wants, be a real adult having all together and knowing everything.

Everyone around me is so successful and I am just a loser.
I can't do this anymore

I hate the argument that people who CTB don't consider the agony of the people we leave behind. I think most people here think about that constantly. We are well aware of the pain it can cause others, and we try to minimise that. But that doesn't discount our own current pain.

Also, there are many friends and family that I have tried to reach out to, that simply don't have the time or care enough about me to try and help me in what I'm going through now. I don't know why I should be worried about these people's pain and regret when I'm dead if they could find the time to help when I'm alive.

If I was helped to live and shown how to be a real adult I wouldn't want to kill myself anymore

If someone sat me down and told me my life can get better and there people out there who have overcome the problems i have experienced.
I wouldn't want to kill myself anymore

In the end suicide became the answer to all my problems and an escape from a world I struggle to find my place in.

They should focus on what caused people to have mental health problems in the first place rather than blame this website. This website doesn't push people to ctb, it supports the view that we have a right to die and choice to end our life on our own terms. The same views as many countries have around the world. A right to die should be a basic human right. Many people simply want to be free from the pain that this life gives them as this world can be such a cruel place. Those who haven't been there themselves will never be able to comprehend it.

Another case of families that knew nothing about their loved one that choose to ctb and now are trying to find someone or something to blame rather than accepting that it was their decision alone.
She even admits this in the article Hermes posted:
"That's not good enough for Bieber. "You can't say things without there being a consequence," she said. "There is liability for this. Someone is responsible for this. That would be like me going up to somebody on a bridge and say, 'Hey, congratulations. Good luck.' You just don't…you help save their life. I'll just keep fighting to get them all shut down. If it takes my entire life, I will.""
I'm skeptical it happened this way, but whatever.
I wouldn't be too surprised if he merely posted useless platitudes ("You are still so young/there are many good things in life/go to therapy").
Our society is to blame for most ctb's but nooo let's not reflect on that and try to actually implement change that could actually help people like us and actually prevent ctb's, and blame a random website instead!
Blaming a random website is much simpler and cheaper than restructuring society.

Here is an excerpt from the article Hermes posted:
"Thomas Joiner, a professor of psychology at Florida State and suicide expert, said that no matter how Suicide Solution rationalizes their community, he considers it an "atrocity." Many people have suicidal thoughts or ideation, Joiner said. But to actually die, they need the access to the means to harm themselves. This is the logic behind "means reduction," a suicide prevention tactic that seeks to reduce a person's access to lethal means by which they might try to kill themselves. Without that access, they can't take any action, and as long as they have not done so, there is the possibility of them becoming no longer suicidal."

The argument is essentially this: "We know that many people are suicidal, but by taking away the means to commit suicide, we can force them to stay alive."
It's so ridiculous, I don't even know what to say.

The total lack of empathy which they proudly exhibit is enough to make anyone speechless. One really has to admire the total obliviousness these people have in regards to the suffering they cause. Or rather, they know exactly how much pain they cause but justify it with the 'sanctity of life' slogan perpetuated by this sickening pro-life society.

This stuff is just fake news.

"Death cult"? "Encouraging people to suicide"? Lol. It's like if they repeat the same thing enough times, they think it will become true.

"Yet these sites never talk about the damage to those you leave behind."
There's a lot of talk about that here..

'But it's a dark, evil cult – full of sick people whose motivation is driving vulnerable people towards suicide.' Are we sick or are we vulnerable? Who knows.

All of these people were adults and responsible for their own actions. Yet their families would rather blame a website than look inwards to themselves or to their "loved one" who felt that they couldn't even talk to them about their suicidal feelings...wonder why that is.

"It took less than a minute for a Mail reporter to find messages on a forum website providing detailed instructions about where to obtain it and how much to order."

This is why you should be careful naming sources..

Hi cult members,

Just a quick reminder of today's schedule. 12.00 is satanic death worship, At 13.00 we'll be boiling babies and drinking their blood (N.B. Please bring your own cup due to covid!!). Then it's tea and biscuits with Elaine and finally, we'll all murder each other.

Thanks again, see you in hell soon
I fucking wish
You know it's almost sad that they make us out to be a cult where we kill eachother. I fucking wish it were that way, hell I'd join a terrorist group if it meant that I'd die soon.

These people are not exactly smart.

I got to know about SS because of one such hit piece by Vice.

I was so so excited when I read it. They didn't give the name of the forum in the article. I searched for it for a minute or two and landed here among you wonderful people.

Dumbasses don't know that every hit piece on SS would only mean more SS members.
That's exactly how I found it too! I had similar feelings of excitement, then a lot of disappointment when I thought I couldn't find it through that at first, then excitement again when I figured it out, roller coaster of emotions. Thank you weird vice article
