You can't use the pm function as a new member. Once to interact with the forum for a bit the pm function will open up to you.

If you got D's email address from one of the files uploaded by RainandSadness, found in the suicide discussion section of the forum you will almost certainly be using the correct address. However if you got it via a ppeh file outside this forum there's a high/almost certain chance you have a scam email address.
