Method Cutting the throat

Recently I saw a movie (Suspiria, 2018) and it have a scene when a old woman stabs your own throat with a knife.


So I started to thinking, if you have a sharp knife and just stab your throat fast enough to you not get regret, like a gun trigger. Could it work?

Which is the lethality of this method? I imagine in my mind that best place to do it is in bathtub and naked. Sorry I am so fucked and crazy.

Its probably deadly lethal if the slice has enough murder intent... Id say if you really want to die this (painful) way you'd be better off having someone else do it, and suddenly we're conspiring about murder which is even more the reason I don't think this should be even considered

I thought about this a couple of years ago. There was no one home and I went to the kitchen and pulled out a knife. Obviously I didn't have the balls to go through as I'm still here. Point is, I poked around on my neck with the sharp tip and whatnot...it's really not easy. Survival Instinct will almost always stop you, and you'll probably just hurt yourself but not die; that is, you won't cut/ thrust deep enough. I realised that my neck wasn't just some jelly that I could slice through (duh): I really had to put effort, and I don't think I wanted to go through with the pain that would've followed. Like others have said, you should look for better methods. It's better than cutting your hands or legs, however, I suppose.

Stabbing sounds good in your mind but in reality it hurts way too much and the SI is so strong, its so hard.

things only hurt when you know they are going to happen , most people who get stabbed dont realise they have been stabbed until they see the blood , when i nearly sliced my finger off washing a glass that cracked i didnt feel it until the dish water went red lol

Omg that pic was horrific. That poor guy must have been in pure hell.

Yeah but we don´t make fun of them, many on DR makes fun of the dead people I think it´s okay to share pictures like this because we respect their wishes to die and wants to learn from them so in a way we kind of honor their suicide also because we respect them so much for having the guts to go through with it.

Yep. The details have been omitted, but he was also drunk. It must be an almost impossible thing to achieve being sober.

Let's say you could stab your jugular vein in one swift motion, maybe even get your carotid artery, too. My fear would be inadvertently slashing your trachea, which would mean you might even choke to death on your own blood before exsanguinating. No bueno. Even if your trachea was spared, its a fairly unpleasant way to die and a pretty gruesome scene to leave.

Now, I have thought that someone with the right experience could place a couple of large-bore IV catheters, probably jugular or femoral, inject themselves with a whopping dose of an anticoagulant like Heparin, leave the catheters open, and bleed out. Slower, and still messy, but at least there's no stabbing.

Also: there's a 2018 remake of Suspiria?!? I know what I'm watching tonite!

The throat is a highly vulnerable area with a lot of nerve endings. Unless a copious amount of strong painkillers is used I'd say this ranks high on the pain scale. That alone is enough to advise against it.

I don't get why anyone would opt for a bloody, gory, painful method when there are alternatives.

Had a professor who said his most intelligent friend he had in life committed suicide using this method. More descriptively the friend slashed his carotid artery and bled out quickly. We live in modern times where I would use an electric saw if going with this method because it literally would remove the possibility that the force isn't enough if running into muscle. There is like only 2cm deep until you hit the carotid artery and chances are not necessarily you will hit muscle but could happen if you don't aim directly. You can feel on your frontal right or left side for a pulse and that's where you would need to stab or cut. On the other hand, I think you would be a madlad if just cutting across the neck.

You seem more interested in cracking"jokes" on a suicide forum and then want other people who are actually in this forum for the reason it's intended to stop researching? Because it´s important to this this thread, I hate censorship and I think it´s important to know what a method looks like especially when someone has an idea of considering a painful method such as this and posting sharing this picture of someone who cut his throat might pursua OP to find another method and then by me sharing the picture will have saved OP from chosing a painful death.

I do hate censorship aswell and hope that there is a real positive background to posting all this in the sense of convincing others to choose more peaceful methods. Which I doubt in most of the posts.
What I complained about was the sheer amount of newly opened threads about the same topics with gory content.

I can't recommend this. As a child I tried it almost a few times. One time i did it, but failed. You need an incredible amount of power to overcome you inner voice and a very sharp knife. Many cut the vocal cords too, because the pain is so high you will scream. If you take a wrong cut, you can't do it again (Likely to be paralyzed). According to a statistic the lethality is just around 51 %. There are so many other options...
