I was thinking of a viable method to cut into a part of my body with a Damast knife to reach an artery fast and efficient.

I thought about the neck/throat area where a big artery is going through and I would use a lidocaine creme from the pharmacy so pain wouldn't annoy me in the process, but maybe there are better areas on the body?

Also, are there any "cutting techniques" so that it's done right? In the throat area for example.

I saw in a movie where a girl sliced her throat open and died from the artery bleeding presumably. It's a movie, but it inspired me.

Cutting is notoriously unreliable. Arteries are a lot deeper than you realize and unless you're in a state of psychosis you won't be able to get down that deep before your mind and body stop you from continuing. It is also nothing like it is in the movies, those are dramatized to the nines for entertainment purposes. Especially if you lack an in depth understanding of human anatomy, which based on how you worded your post it seems you are rather unfamiliar with it, then you are at an even higher risk of failing. According to the lost all hope chart, I don't currently have it saved to attach, cutting only have a 6% survival rate and is extremely painful. Lidocaine cream would be useless for the pain as that only helps with very topical pain, and you would be extremely deep before you hit an artery. More likely than not you'd end up with a gnarly wound with a high risk of infection and potentially some anemia/hypovolemia depending on how far you got before the pain became too much.

In theory it's possible but without a detailed knowledge of anatomy and/or sheer luck, you're far more likely to cause significant, possibly permanent damage and ends up in a worse situation than you are right now.

Why the throat…? Either way, I have my mundane input here in the form of a couple weapon suicides listed on a separate document I'd made for the express purpose:

7. Stab self in torso and throat at least seven times with knife (obsidian, kitchen or wakizashi)

13. Harakiri

15. Cut limbs off with ax

16. Slit left wrist and forearm downwards starting right below hand with box cutter, pocket knife or hunting knife

20. Slit own throat with saw or knife;

I'm aware your thread is most likely for the purpose of alleviating boredom, but as I too am doing such a thing, I thought I would make this my first comment on the site. As you can see I have some thoughts on how you'd commit suicide with bladed implements, but am having trouble understanding your request for such precision.

These jpegs I believe fit the criteria of relating to the subject at hand, and may even be helpful to you in sating the relevant curiosity exactly:

While I cannot find the screenshot I may or may not have taken of a Quora thread on this subject, if I remember correctly off of my own research, stabbing yourself in the throat a few times swiftly would likely be far superior a method to slashing/slitting. A different gore video I've watched indicates that the suffering of that method is quite prolonged. The man—(whom I think was south Asian, if that's important)—seemed to be quite pained, and was choking on his own blood for quite some time. …Probably find a better method, likeminded individual. I like the idea, nevertheless.

If even some of the information is unwanted, someone do feel free to tell me so I might alter my behavior accordingly in the future for this community.

Well, I know the femoral arteries are near the surface of the skin, but I don't know much more and never tried it.

Thanks for the reply first of all.

Maybe if I took a high dose of opioids + the lidocaine on the skin, take some blood thinners like aspirine and would then cut the artery on the wrist which is easier to reach I assume? With the grip on the knife there would be no slipping of due to the blood like with just a razorblade.

Additionally maybe something like cocaine to get the blood pressure up so the blood would continue shooting out the wrist, but opioids decrease blood pressure don't they?

Even if the blood loss won't be quite enough, I'd put myself to sleep with pills after I lost an certain amount of blood and my body would be too weak to wake up again

If you're on opioids and cocaine I don't think you're going to have any shot of accurately cutting yourself in the right spot. You're gonna be out of your mind, not meticulously locating and severing major arteries with a sharp blade. If you managed to fatally cut yourself while that high it would be pure luck.

It is a gutsy way to go, but the samurai perfected this method with seppuku. An honorable exit. I wouldn't have the nerve. (Call me chicken).

Peace, whatever you decide to do.
