Not really "inspired" but I appreciate a lot Sylvia Plath, Vincent Van Gogh and Chester Bennington.
Sylvia's and Van Gogh's quotes pretty much describe what's going on inside myself perfectly, things I can't describe no matter what; And I've always listened and related to Chester's songs. I always knew he was suicidal because of the blatant obvious lyrics (to another suicidal person lol), but it still came as a shock to me, and he went out by the same method I'd like to use to CTB.
Some of Sylvia's quotes I really like:

"I didn't want any flowers, I only wanted
to lie with my hands turned up and be utterly empty."

"I desire the things which will destroy me in the end."
"I talk to God but the sky is empty."

"I am glad the rain is coming down hard, it's how I feel inside."
"Is there no way out of the mind?"
"Intoxicated with madness, I'm in love with my sadness."

I appreciate this one guy on reddit who went by N and died under a tree near his house. Don't know who he was or if it actually happened, although I highly suspect he did because he was debilitated and ill, which I can relate strongly with. He said he loved life, but had to make the compassionate choice to end his own suffering. He was at peace with his decision and I admired that.

Ian Curtis and Kurt Cobain are 2 people that come to mind. I was already suicidal before I knew about those individuals, but reading about their deaths helped to cement the thoughts that I had at the time, and still do.

Jacques Rigaut (30 December 1898 – 9 November 1929) was a surrealist poet. Born in Paris, he was part of the Dadaist movement. His works frequently talked about suicide and he came to regard its successful completion as his occupation. In 1929, at the age of 30, as he had announced, Rigaut shot himself, using a ruler to be sure the bullet would pass through his heart.

I cannot say I have been "inspired" by any case of CTB.

It angers and saddens me that so many are driven to this painful end because society has completely and utterly failed those who are driven to take their own lives in oftimes painful ways or force people, who are in excruciating pain, live to the bitter end.

None really. I mean I am envious of those who do it so calmly as if going outside to check the mail box. But I know that no ctb is the same. Everyone feels and reacts differently.

For me it's Richard Russel.

Rest in peace legend.
Oh man, I remember this one. The recording of the conversation he had with air traffic control is on youtube, it's really tragic imo, especially because of how honest and frank he was in the conversation, and how he knew it wasn't going to end well, that he basically had no choice but to crash it, because he couldn't bear to face the punishments after landing, assuming he even knew how to land.

One suicide that is very memorable to me is that of David Foster Wallace. He was an American author who in September 2008, killed himself by hanging from a rafter of his house, dying aged 46. He was a lifelong depressive, and often wrote about feeling so inadequate in his own skin, feeling like a "fraud".

Much of his works are on youtube. Two of his most prominent are 'Consider the Lobster' and 'This is Water'. He spoke about suicide several times during his life, and the following quote of his is fairly well-known and imo very compelling:

"The so-called 'psychotically depressed' person who tries to kill herself doesn't do so out of quote 'hopelessness' or any abstract conviction that life's assets and debits do not square. And surely not because death seems suddenly appealing. The person in whom Its invisible agony reaches a certain unendurable level will kill herself the same way a trapped person will eventually jump from the window of a burning high-rise. Make no mistake about people who leap from burning windows. Their terror of falling from a great height is still just as great as it would be for you or me standing speculatively at the same window just checking out the view; i.e. the fear of falling remains a constant. The variable here is the other terror, the fire's flames: when the flames get close enough, falling to death becomes the slightly less terrible of two terrors. It's not desiring the fall; it's terror of the flames. And yet nobody down on the sidewalk, looking up and yelling 'Don't!' and 'Hang on!', can understand the jump. Not really. You'd have to have personally been trapped and felt flames to really understand a terror way beyond falling."

There is also a film focussing on Wallace's life, called 'The End of the Tour' (2015).

Some cases are memorable for me, such as people who were suffering a lot and they chose to end their life on their own terms rather than face a future filled with pain. Many of them had conditions that were going to get worse over time. I read about one woman with an physical condition with no cure and after her death, her family campaigned for the right to die with dignity.

I love DFW too. I wanted to mention his suicide. I've read a lot and watched everything about him on Youtube.
I can relate a lot to his description of his living hell.

Ian Curtis... I love Joy Division. But his death didn't inspire me... His suicide made me so sad;( He suffered so much.
Oh yes he definitely suffered with his epilepsy. I did not inspire me either, but some of his reason(s) for wanting to die were relatable for me.

Eugene Sprague (jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge.) I thought it was beautiful that he waited for his Mum to die first. (I want to wait for my Dad.) I also think his Nan (I think it was) was very understanding. She knew about how he felt and she asked him to say goodbye if he ever chose to go through with it- which he did. I admire her that she didn't try to stop him.

Also, Richard Russel- as OP said.

Wow.

I'd say Avicii and Chester Bennington. Mental illness got the better of them. The nature of their music makes it poetic how they met their demise. I like discovering artists and writers who died by suicide. It's a sense of comfort. Some have tried to get better, many different ways, and some just fell deeper into their despair without much help. Can relate to the path they're on, finally ending it for peace

While I would have opt for a peaceful, dignified exit when my time comes, I learned it is not feasible nor possible given my circumstances, so if I want to check out anytime soon or so, it would (unfortunately) have to be by my own hand. With that said, the cases that inspired me are the ones who CTB via firearm due to it's (near) instantaneous death, relative painlessness (unless done wrong), and reliability (if done right). These include but not limited to: The suspect who had a hidden pistol and offed himself while in police custody, Budd Dwyer on live television, Ronnie McNutt while livestreaming, to name a few. Of course though, I would not wish to be public nor would I do it in a public area. This is because I don't intend to scar others and more importantly, I want to succeed if I go through with it, not be saved and survive in a vegetative state.

Cheslie Kryst, Miss USA 2019.

She was smart and beautiful with a loving mom and a great career. She was a jumper. Jumpers are a different breed.

There's something incredibly inspiring about a person having every single thing you want and still wanting to die.

It confirms and re-validates what I already know about not life: at the end of the day - it's not worth enduring.
