My mother passed away recently of cancer. I had to go to the crematorium to pick up her ashes. I was handed a box with a clear plastic bag inside containing her ashes. The box was surprisingly heavy, The amount of ashes was a lot, pink, the texture of corn flakes. I put the box in the passenger's seat of my car and drove home. I had the certain feeling, I knew, she was riding home with me in the back seat. She was just very matter of factly sitting there in the back of the car with me.

That night, I put the box in the kitchen on the table. I was sitting in the living room late at night, and a white orb the size of a basketball floated out of the kitchen near the ceiling, gradually and slowly moved across the room and went into her doorway to her bedroom. I went in and looked around but the orb was gone.

The next night, again I saw the big white orb, slightly translucent, float out of her bedroom, float around near the ceiling, and go into the bathroom briefly, come out, and float back into the kitchen. I had the odd but definite feeling it was my mother, looking around for her cat, who was in the pet hospital at that time. She adored her cat and had missed her terribly in her last days when she was in hospice.

There were other odd things happening like this too.

I am sorry to hear that your mother passed away, I had a similar experience when someone that I considered to be like a grandma to me passed away, and when I was alone in my room I could feel like a presence and I assume It was her because a few days before she died she was worried about me and I just felt safe knowing that she went to visit me one last time to see how I was doing

I have chills even thinking about this now. I knew, without any doubt, my mother was riding home with me with the ashes in the front and her in the back. I know it sounds crazy. And I knew that orb was mother. Just very odd. None of it was scary, but just puzzling.

I let her cat sniff the ashes, I opened the bag and put it on the floor and her cat came and sniffed them, then suddenly started to run, she was scared, then stopped dead in her tracks and stood there like wtf, why am I running, it's just grandmother. (We considered me the cat's mother and she was the cat's grandmother, whom the cat was totally devoted to and never left her alone.

On a side note, this makes me wonder--- so some people just hang around for a while if they are extremely tied by love or devotion to something or someone? My mother didn't mind not being with me, but that cat was the only thing I've ever seen my mother shed tears over in her entire life, at the last time I saw her, saying how much she missed her.

I think cats have a sixth sense or something. My previous black cat may have saved my life and other people in my first flat. She woke me up one night and escorted me to the communal hall, where I could smell gas. The old lady.next.door had left her stove on, unlit.

I agree! We vastly underestimate the intelligence and awareness of cats. I had another cat I could write volumes about. The cat absolutely knew and understood every single thing I said to him and indicated in various ways his answers comments and responses. He pointed out things in response, went places and did things in response, had various poses and facial expressions in response to things I said, and had ways of commenting on things that were unmistakable. He was like a small person in a cat suit.
