Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like the majority of our members are not from the USA, and if thats the case where and why? I've spoke to a few people from Germany, and it seems like there are a lot of people from Europe. Why is this? Is Europe just more depressing than the rest of the world?

I am not from North America or Europe, but I detest this country, so I would rather not talk about it.

I'm from the country above the USA. I think it's a pretty amazing country for a lot of people. Unfortunately, if you know where to look, all is not well.

I'm in the US, but I see the USA and western Europe as part of the same civilization. And western industrial civilization has already peaked and is steadily declining. Increased rates of suicide are normal during this stage.

For those of you who like reading philosophy of history, The Decline of the West by Oswald Spengler is a very thought-provoking book.

Maybe they're more likely to have read or been influenced by Schopenhauer and other deeply pessimistic thinkers. Culture could play a large part as well, Americans may feel more pressured to appear happy and optimistic. There's also less of an issue with religion, the "sanctity" of life", and assisted suicide.

Actually, there was an interesting happiness ranking I saw a while back and Germany and France scored much lower than the US. There was a paper about France and the "unhappiness paradox" and it seemed to be genuine and caused by culture.

Its just amazing or, surprising to see an uptick of suicide rates. The things I find most strange, are when we're so focussed on accepting homosexuality, and transgendered individuals, and I'd bet 30% or more of suicides were those individuals before society reached its current state.

Team USA, baby! Or should I say Team Micky D's?

I honestly assume the opposite - that most here are Americans. I think people outside the USA are more likely to mention their nationality in anticipation of this assumption.

If Americans are the majority here like I think, that may be why it appears that there are more people from Europe and elsewhere.

I just assume everyone here is American because everyone types in English lol.

How do the Europeans recognize other Europeans??? Is there some secret "Europeans Only" section that I don't know about??? :smiling:

Many people speaks in English outside the US. In my case, most content on the Internet is in English so I was forced to learn, but it's worth it. I am from Spain.
